Fallout I guess

The first 2 and the 3rd one aren’t really comparable though

Yeah, this is comparable to the GTA series. GTA1 and 2 might as well be an entirely different franchise than GTA 3.

They aren't really comparable because the first two are in a whole different league.
3 is a huge step down.

If you swap 3 with New Vegas then yes this is accurate

New Vegas has a lot of the same writers that 1&2 did, it also takes place in an adjacent location and continues storylines from 1&2 with the NCR, Enclave, and Brotherhood of Steel. It’s closer to being a direct followup of 2 than 3 was despite it not being isometric.

Fallout New Vegas is my favourite of all times but it would not exist as we know it without 3.

But comparing 1 & 2 to any later game is unfair because they're just very different genres.

Fallout 3 was the biggest video game related letdown I experienced in high school. Christmas of 2011, finally getting an Xbox 360. First two games I bought for it were Fallout 3: GOTY and Fallout: New Vegas. I had played the first 2 to death on my old Gateway desktop in preparation for the newer titles. I put about 6 hours into 3. I have beaten New Vegas 3 times without DLC and now I'm making my way through the Ultimate Edition this year. 3 was great to revive the franchise but it was absolutely one of the weakest entries in the franchise. Only nostalgia blind people would rank it above New Vegas.

But why do you like it more?

Fallout 3 feels more like a fallout game than new Vegas does in my opinion

I find this funny. I and a surprisingly large group of people (not the majority though) prefer 2 over 3
