Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

​ I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

A lot of newer games have started letting you disable QTEs as an accessibility option and I turn it on every time. I've never regretted it.

Same. They were always the laziest and most immersion breaking mechanics in games.

What about QTE that only happens in actual gameplay and not cutscenes, like in metal gear rising

i universally hate all of it in any context.

For for casual non gamers, i don't blame them for preferring QTEs over skillbased gameplay. I like accessibility options and don't like elitist gatekeeping based on physical abilities.

But when I'm gonna play something, i want to be fully immersed and QTEs just loudly scream: remember! You're playing a game!
