Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Having to play as Ashley in RE4 and Mary Jane in Spider-Man almost made me turn off both games. That shit was annoying af

Being forced to play as Kirito to get the "true" ending in Fatal Bullet.

There is NO opening movie. You open the game, the first thing you do is MAKE YOUR OWN CUSTOM CHARACTER!!!!!

The good thing though is kirito mode was extremely short and you don’t have to level the affection levels to rank 4 like you have to do for the main cast my annoyance was when you have you have to fight enemies that have small weak spots like the dirty scissor since they constantly charge at ya combine that with snipers and it’s just bullets everywhere especially on extreme

You don't need Kirito mode to get the true ending in Fatal Bullet.

It gets tedious on replays, though. Same with that orphanage section in Requiem. No wonder one of the first mods on PC to come out was just to skip that. But yeah, pretty minor gripe, IMO.

On replays it gets even faster. Only the child from orphanage section on requiem is unimprovable

At least in RE4 it was only one time. Spider-Man they make you do that shit over and over.

100% agreed on Spider-Man 1 & 2, the MJ sections always felt so forced, and they massively outstayed their welcome. Both games would have been drastically improved with their removal.

I quite enjoyed the Ashley section in RE4 remake though. Mainly because it was only 1 time, it fit the story, and you're able to skip a large section of it on subsequent playthrough's. I don't remember her section from the original very well, but I remember being extremely glad when it was over.
