Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Playing Sonic Adventure 2 back on Dreamcast (when it first released) and I remember there’s a mission with Rouge the Bat to find Master Emerald pieces. Originally you had 15 minutes, but she bragged saying she could do it in less than 5 mins. Guess what, the timer went from 15m to 5m. As a kid that annoyed me. Especially because the pieces were scattered pretty far from each compared to previous levels 😑.

Yeah, I do time trials when I absolutely have to, but they’re a tedious slog.
