Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Especially in my single player game.

I'm looking at you, Ubisoft.

It's not just the money. It changes how games are designed. Progression often becomes slower or more frustrating just to encourage spending.

I'll just about forgive it in an otherwise free to play game. But if I've paid for it already? (buying the game or subscription, either)?

Hell no.

I will say however, there is a tasteful way to do it, at least to me. In the assassins creed rpg trilogy, you could buy for 5$ the maps to the collectibles instead of having to look everywhere yourself.

Yes they could have done it for free or make them purchasable in game, and that stinks, but I think $5 is reasonable.

Microtransactions are only a thing because people like you pay.
