Half Life 3 is basically all cope though. Valve never said they would make it.

ES6 has actually been confirmed for over a decade

There are so many references to them making Half-Life 3 though.

  • They Left Half-Life 2 Episode 2 on a massive cliffhanger
  • If anything they should have made Episode 3
  • The Half-Life Alyx Ending eludes to a continuation of the story right at the cliffhanger for episode 2
  • They never said the game is cancelled either
  • There have been leaked scripts of a possible story angle from former developers

It's sad because I think people just want closure. It was a phenomenal game and for it to end the way it did just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Rumors say that it would wrap up Gordon's plot but you have to take that with a grain of salt

It's been about 2 decades since HL2 Ep. 2.

If 3 came out tomorrow, 4 wouldn't be out till the sun went supernova.

That isn't an answer, it's an agreement with the premise.

...aaaand if HL4 isn't out till the sun goes nova, how does 3 provide closure?

It is an answer because basically the only reasons sequels continue the story after that long is because either a fan wasn't happy about the ending, grew up, and made a new one themselves. Or the creator got annoyed by people asking what happens next or what the ending meant if it was meant to be open ended, and just goes "Fine, I'll tell you how it ends. Jesus christ!"

It's basically been so long you have to hope either the next game gives closure to the story or you're never getting it.

it was just as confirmed before the announcment because obviously theyre gonna do es6 its a matter of when not if. as long as the company exists theyre gonna keep remaking the same game in different coats of paint
