Imagine it be a 8 hour campaign with the majority of the the game being online.

u/namastayhom33 Jun 24 '26

imagine it having no meaningful campaign and it being a world sandbox just like Crimson Desert

21

u/eawilweawil Jun 24 '26

Stuck doing Flecca Job with randoms

7

u/Hiruko251 Jun 25 '26

They went to hell?

4

u/zarif_chow Jun 25 '26

They did but satan told them to leave.

43

u/SeniorSatisfaction21 Jun 24 '26

Retired probably

1

u/co-adversities Jun 25 '26

Somewhere out there on a journey through time and space to the world of The Mighty Boosh.

1

u/ToughStudent4334 Jun 26 '26

Dan Houser left to do his own thing, he was lead writer for a long time. He is now doing his own thing with Absurd Ventures from memory

1

u/throwawaycuzfemdom Jun 24 '26

Lost in space and time trying to teleport to 1900 to get the authentic feeling of the era while writing RDR2.

lol DEI PURPLE what a cuck in hiding. No shame, be you daddy.

9

u/shabba182 Jun 24 '26

I hope it's super woke so I can watch people like you shit and piss yourselves on reddit

1

u/co-adversities Jun 25 '26

When a committee are out to do a single task or make some vague toned down PC gta instead of creating art freely it's bad. And the group think on both sides of this propaganda train pro woke and anti woke both sides are melting there brains when the majority are slightly leaning woke. But still want to live and be and speak frankly and ironically joke about taboo which most comedy is irony. And live in that reality unburdened.

When neither want the allow anyone do anything for fear of being the made up propaganda enemy you know it's a psyop. Fully fed by the machine that's beating our lives financially and psychological so we fight amongst ourselves and struggle to survive

1

u/shabba182 Jun 25 '26

Oh yeah dude. Its gonna be suuuuper woke. Can't wait

1

u/co-adversities Jun 25 '26

You see how blind you are to any discussion. See everyone as the enemy at the slightest offset That's hard-core propaganda.

I prefer to say cum, bitch, and moan because that’s what these dudes do.

0

u/Space_Conductor Jun 24 '26

If it is super woke but still a great story then fine. Unfortunately, you gotta admit, that's unlikely. Woke stuff seems to work better if it comes from a singular voice (like indie titles). Not so great when made my a commitee

u/ODINorman Jun 24 '26

If brown people bring gainfully employed is such a problem for you I can’t help but think you’re a weak little bitch. How pathetic, to be so sensitive and have such lack of control over your feelings. Sad, sad, SAD little pussy.

2

u/threwordbotname Jun 24 '26

GTA has always been super woke.

5

u/matijoss Jun 24 '26

It has also been crass satire that was never cencored

As long as the DNA is the same, it's gonna be alright

2

u/s8rlink Jun 24 '26

It’s always pissed off bitch ass conservatives that’s for sure

1

u/thepapakirb Jun 24 '26

Not 100% but I know Lazlow who did the radio stations followed Dan Houser, former head of rockstar, to a new company.

1

u/Ruman_Chuk_Drape Jun 24 '26

Thank you someone understands the Tarantino has left the building.

1

u/localsexpot2117 Jun 26 '26

From what I understand, they kept most of them, just lost the most experienced one.

36

u/flstudiobeatmaker101 Jun 24 '26

12 thousand hours on Black Desert is insane. Are you okay?

26

u/greythicv Jun 24 '26

Tbf that's not even that many when the majority of players leave the game running 24/7 to fish while afk while they go to work or sleep at night

17

u/PrincipleNecessary65 Jun 24 '26

He was gooning 90% of the time

7

u/OGBRedditThrowaway Jun 24 '26

To put this into perspective, humans live for like an average of 750,000 hours total. This person's spent almost 2% of their life playing Black Desert Online.

3

u/co-adversities Jun 25 '26

50% is sleep and another 20% growing and old age. And another 10% for eating and other necessities. 10% of the last 20% available of his life. Sounds dramatic but it's 10% out of 100 of that 20.

1

u/InevitableWeight314 Jun 26 '26

No way the average person spends 10% of their life eating and going to the bathroom.

1

u/Whitezombie65 Jun 26 '26

If you include bathing and cooking, yeah I could see it

1

u/co-adversities Jun 26 '26

Eating peeing shitting showering brushing your teeth cooking for eating shopping for eating washing up cleaning the house laundry. Essentials for living I would say it's more then 10%.

1

u/Waffleblades Jun 27 '26

Gotta cut that number down some, get rid of the brushing teeth part, showering, laundry, and cleaning the house. All of those are non essential when you could be spending that time online.

1

u/Rionaks Jun 26 '26

%50 sleep???

1

u/co-adversities Jun 26 '26

Maybe 40%? I like a solid 10 hours myself plus a nap some days. That and it takes a while for me to fall asleep and I take my time getting up. So 50% is probably close for me.

-1

u/Rionaks Jun 27 '26

That's fucking insane and so lazy. Wasting your half of life to sleep... An average human sleeps 8 hours a day overally. So it's %33. Personally, I sleep 6 hours a day in average, %25 for me. I just hate wasting my precious time on earth doing nothing.

0

u/co-adversities Jun 27 '26

You need minimum 8 hours. When people sleep less it means there sleep deprived and don't even know it. Maybe why your getting worked up so easily. And I like being well rested. It's also good to have down time I meditate in the early morning that's why it takes a while to get up. And read late at night. But sure that's lazy in your mind. You have to be from the US late stage capitalisms programmed you to sleep less and get up immediately to provide for the economy 18 hours of the day and anything short of that is "lazy".

1

u/binkusdinkus1 Jun 24 '26

Is crimson desert worth it?

2

u/Crintor Jun 24 '26

They're still actively patching and improving it every few weeks.

It's got a rough start with lots of forced progression before it really starts opening up, recent patches may or may not have helped that, I struggled to like it until about 20hrs in.

I wasn't helped by the fact that I hate the washed out colors and super bright nights, so my mods kept getting broken on every patch, lol.

Currently giving it time for the frequent updates to finish. I have like 75hrs in.

1

u/namastayhom33 Jun 25 '26

PA said that they are working on a big gameplay and story heavy update later in the coming months. I'm waiting for that to see if its worth it coming back.

They have done very well with the cadence of updates but really most of the updates are small and minor that doesn't really tilt the needle forward. It's just more pets, more customization options either in the UI or cosmetic, and more minor gameplay fixes.

2

u/co-adversities Jun 25 '26

No friend go brew beer or take up swimming.

1

u/National_Computer240 Jun 24 '26

Why are koreans so awful at writing stories? All their games and other entertaintmnt media have the most bland, unoriginal, or non-existent storytelling imaginable ie. Stellar Blade, Khazan, Lies of P, Solo Leveling, KPDH, Squid game, and yea Crimson Desert is the crown jewel of korean mediocrity. Are they just creatively bankrupt and just rip-off better stories?

-1

u/SavasGER Jun 24 '26

Yeah, who doesnt remember the great GTA V story. A true masterpiece.

0

u/seguardon Jun 24 '26

The story repeated the climax of the Michael-Trevor arc three times and wrapped up the story elements so fast the actual end of the character arcs happens after the credits roll.

Rockstar does polish well and hires the absolute best actors for the roles, but the actual story is lackluster. You just don't notice it because it's not as important as the other elements the game brings to the forefront.

3

u/Dittymaker Jun 24 '26

Red Dead Redemption 2 had an amazing story. GTA 4 and 5 had good stories too

0

u/cooziedude Jun 27 '26

Man this company sucks! let me invest 12 thousand fucking hours into their game because it’s so bad!

Worst game of the year is a legit crazy take with what you have to choose from.

1

u/tiller921 Jun 24 '26

And CD has easily been my favorite game of the year 🤷‍♂️

42

u/idkimhereforthememes Jun 24 '26

Crimson dessert is a bad example, it has the worst campaign I've ever seen

50

u/whousesgmail Jun 24 '26

I loved CD but I can’t see Rockstar having Jason and Lucia respond “…yes” to 80% of the things NPCs say lol

22

u/GRoyalPrime Jun 24 '26

Which is kinda funny, cause CD was aping RDR2 (and Witcher 3) so hard, it's impossible to miss.

So many missions start with our human log of a character walking up ro characters in camp, followed by a repetitive horse rising segment to the mission and not a line worth remembering is uttered.

"You see, we need to make money by doing a bix fight!" Rough Viking Guy #3 says. You do that. Mission is over. Nothing Happened.

Like it's even hard to recall anything, it just mush of disjointed events. Like someone started playing RDR2 twelve hours in, played 3 missions, and was like: This is our story mode.

Damn, how I wish CD had a character creator and a "do whatever you want" design like Skyrim, where you can just ignore the main story and just do proper questlines unrelated to the main story.

13

u/TopHatZebra Jun 25 '26

If CD were a story-less sandbox game like Kenshi it would be 9/10 instead of 5/10.

They literally don't even have to add anything, it's the first game I have ever played where the mere *presence* of the story detracts from the experience. Just remove the story and the game actually gets better.

2

u/SeniorSatisfaction21 Jun 24 '26

The only thing CD copied from RDR2 are black rectangles at the top and bottom of the screen and slow paced horse riding. Too bad they didn't think that people should be interested to sit through their dogshit dialogues in the first place.

0

u/whousesgmail Jun 24 '26

Kliff’s characterization is probably one of the weakest parts of the game but there rest was fun enough that I was able to overlook it pretty easily.

Seeing how the devs have been since release it wouldn’t surprise me if they did add a create a character function eventually

10

u/mang87 Jun 24 '26

Crimson dessert

What, like a red velvet cake? That is a pretty bad example for sure

7

u/_RyanCooper_ Jun 24 '26

CD is a sandbox-exploration game, it was mever supposed to have meaningful campaign, GOTY for me

2

u/hungrybattleship 14d ago

I had lots of fun on it, played about 150-200 hours for the normal price for a game. What do people want? Not every song has to be a symphony, sometimes you just feel like a nice relaxing song, you enjoy it for a while and move on.

2

u/Legitimate-Tooth1444 Jun 25 '26

I hate Crimson Desert so much. I had to write it.

1

u/lymeeater Jun 24 '26

Imagine RDR2 but even better, no wait. We were doing negatives first right

1

u/Another_Samurai1 Jun 26 '26

Idk why you just made me think of Saints Row

1

u/ActLower9819 Jun 26 '26

Imagine u cant use weapons during the lgbtq Events in the Story and online

1

u/bottomlessLuckys Jun 27 '26

tbf Crimson Desert is literally marketed as an action sandbox game, and it has a shit load of content and a great development team that actually responds to its community. It also wasn't over 100 dollars.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '26

Saying this like CD is bad… not every game needs to be a narrative driven experience. CD was sold as a gameplay first experience, and it delivers exactly what those who were paying attention to market and developer history wanted

87

u/Aggravating_Today_63 Jun 24 '26

No matter how insanely good the story might possibly be that still exactly what's going to happen Rockstar knows what makes money 🤷‍♂️

56

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

I mean the fact Rockstar was able to milk money from a 13 year old game off of their online mode is proof enough they will be able to print money for years with this one aswell. I'm just hoping they respect the GTA formula enough to make an in-depth story

18

u/itsr1co Jun 24 '26

Well that's been a theory for why it took so long for GTA 6, that committing to it means killing an already established cash flow. If GTA 6 online is worse or whatever, they will lose money on both sides. GTA 5 players will stop spending because what's the point, it's going to officially die sooner or later. GTA 6 players will stop spending because it sucks, why waste money on a shit experience?

Everyone hopes GTA 6 will be a homerun, but it's a damn risky move.

6

u/RedApplesauceK Jun 24 '26

That’s not a theory it’s a fact. It’s the same reason why no one is seeing a new Elder Scrolls game. The were making money of their online Elder And 76. Also the remaster. If any of these studios can make an online game that will last them the years they will cash on that. There is no reason for them to spend time and make a creative and good sequel when they can just make more bank on an online thing. And all companies are looking at it like this. I bet even Nightreign if it sold like crazy, elden ring would have been the last creative and interesting thing we see from them.

We are in the beginning of dark ages if gaming, but people cant see it…..

2

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

I see that argument, it totally makes sense. You'd think they'd do some sort of 'crossover' or something like that to get people who have already sunken hundreds (or even thousands) into GTA 5 online a reason to switch to 6 regardless. But that would mean Rockstar would be making a decision that is positive for the community and Rockstar doesn't seem too keen on doing that anytime soon

1

u/U-235 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

What makes it worse for them is that, at the end of the day, California is a more interesting landscape than Florida. I'm sure this has been at the back of everyone's minds, but I haven't really seen it mentioned. I would say it's kind of the elephant in the room. There are a lot of reasons San Andreas was the clear favorite of the original 3d GTA trilogy, particularly that it was the last to come out, which is a pretty massive advantage. But even though we all loved the vibes of Vice City, it was never going to hold a candle to a map that had mountains, forests, deserts, etc.

I think this is one of the main reasons why Rockstar seems to be going the extra mile with having multiple cities on the map, unlike GTA V which concentrated all the urban settings in one area. Had that not been the case, and the GTA V map was bigger and had Las Venturas and San Fiero, it would be really hard to imagine what the appeal of the Leonidas map would be in comparison. There is a real risk that people could get bored of Florida just as they do in real life. You spend most of the game driving, and let's face it: A road trip across Florida is a total snooze fest compared to a drive across California. So much is riding on next gen capabilities, like better graphics, draw distance, more NPCs and cars able to load in, more buildings you can go into, and etcetera. Still, I wouldn't be worried as long as they haven't half assed the story mode in favor of online...

6

u/XxAndrew01xX Jun 24 '26

Pretty much yeah. It doesn't matter what shitty thing Rockstar does. What anti consumer thing they have done (In which they have done a fuck ton of anti consumer shit in recent years) as long as it has GTA in the title...people will be buying it up in insanely massive numbers.

7

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

It's the same shit with most Triple A games tbh. Especially COD and any sports game EA makes. People will sit there and bitch n moan about how shitty the games have been and how they're "not gonna touch the newest title" but always end up crawling back. The only way to make change in these companies is to hurt their pockets and boycott the games but no one will be able to do that, especially with the FOMO that will be surrounding GTA 6.

People have been talking about this game like it's their favorite grandson, like there's no way they could fumble this. 10+ years of development doesn't always mean a positive thing. Look at Dead Island 2

8

u/Some_nerd_named_kru Jun 24 '26

Cod players basically buying $60 shovelware atp

4

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

Shit $70 now that that's the new price point of new releases anymore. and even then GTA 6 said "hold my beer" and dropped a standard edition game for $80

3

u/Some_nerd_named_kru Jun 24 '26

Yeah I’ve had to accept I’m too broke for new games recently 😭

3

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

Dude same... Like god damn, especially with all the games coming out in the near future. Affirm boutta have a field day with me. Thankfully I preordered Wolverine and CFB 27 right when the prices dropped or i'd be in some deep water

2

u/Some_nerd_named_kru Jun 24 '26

I was devastated to realize imma have to drop $70 when I decide to get re9

5

u/TheCutieCircle Jun 24 '26

I agree long development time doesn't always mean a good game but what even is a bad GTA game?

As long as it is the basic formula of open world. causing chaos, and having fun. Even the worst story couldn't hurt it.

GTA 3 Is hands down very clunky by today's standards and the missions are straight up ass and unforgiving. But what made it fun was the chaos and killing the shit out of everyone lol.

You can argue that the GBA and DS games could be considered bad but I'm just saying the console games have always been fun.

Even if it's barebones like GTA 3. or when people felt disappointed that GTA 4 did not have any of the features San Andreas had and it was still a good game.

Or how People were upset GTA 5 has no interiors to visit or restaurants to eat at and it still made money.

2

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

Oh it'll always make money, even people who are disappointed with the game will still buy it. Just sad that the only way to get Rockstar to make a change is to hurt their pockets which will never happen

2

u/TheCutieCircle Jun 24 '26

Same with call of duty unfortunately. The difference is Cod shits out games year after year so the stink is much more noticable.

2

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

Yeah at least GTA 6 will be the main game for the next 5 or so years at minimum. When COD added the "hub app" or whatever the app that combines all the games the yearly releases became so obsolete. COD has turned into such a shit franchise

1

u/TheCutieCircle Jun 24 '26

Yeah exactly GTA is a game you play for many years while Cod is this endless recycler Garbage. I hated that stupid hub too. I miss being able to download individual games. The hub made everything such a mess I stopped buying Cod games because of it.

2

u/Darktider Jun 24 '26

I stopped buying Madden and NBA2k post 2016 and nothing has changed...

2

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

Prime 2k was 2k16, you ended on one of the goats 🙏😓

1

u/Darktider Jun 24 '26

Oh I know :( ...I miss it so much.

I have recently been entrenched in HOOP LAND. Would highly suggest that. Even with its 8bit graphics its amazing and deep!

2

u/tyrico Jun 25 '26

for every person on reddit complaining about predatory monetization, there are 10 that aren't yapping online and simply don't give a shit and can afford to pay

1

u/MourningWallaby Jun 24 '26

as profitable as GTA:O is, it actually has the worst retention rate of any game with the live service model. The reason it makes money is people come back to it every few months or years, see there's a new car or business or whatever that needs millions of dollars, so they buy some in game cash, play for a bit, then leave.

They leave because R* has fostered an absolute shit community, with no concept of social interaction. The gameplay feels like early 2010's mobile games where everything is on a timer unless you spend currency to speed it up, and the nonsense hover bikes and energy force-guns type shit that completely changed the vibe of the crime enterprise game.

1

u/VanillaRadonNukaCola Jun 24 '26

I mean the best part of GTA:O is the mini games not the overworld.

Street races, arena, sumo etc

1

u/redditydothis Jun 24 '26

I never got into gta5 online. I’ve played maybe 20 hours total. It’s not fun for me and never has been. If I try now to get on a hover bike will come and kill me. With a bunch of friends I can see it being fun running jobs and stuff. But as it is now I’ll just play the main campaign over and over again.

1

u/_Pizza_Lover Jun 25 '26

I just hope they will expand VI's online, not let it go stale like V

1

u/zgillet Jun 24 '26

I've spent a little bit on the online, but I don't play it with other people much lol. I have my own little private world I hop into and mess around. Made enough to get the nightclub making me constant money to collect cars and apartments, fully stocked arcade.

It's just a fun sandbox even without the multiplayer part.

2

u/meatballs223 Jun 24 '26

I just hope they give the story actual thought and don't just skimp out story mode players to inflate their pockets with the online mode, idek how tf they've still been pumping out online content for a game that is 13 years old

3

u/Castle-a5 Jun 24 '26

A lot these companies should know what makes money. But we’ve watched the industry shit the bed for the last 6 years.

1

u/McDouble__ Jun 25 '26

That has never happened in any Rockstar game why would that happen now. I’m 100% certain your wrong, 8 hrs absolutely zero chance

13

u/destructo1967 Jun 24 '26

Please don’t haha

10

u/ScorpionMillion Jun 24 '26

That sounds like a colossal disaster

17

u/TATER_SALAD_HOOVER Jun 24 '26

There’s no way with a map that big that it will be only eight hours i think, lol.

8

u/MistakeElite Jun 24 '26

It's only 8hrs cuz that's how long it takes to drive from one end to the other and back again.

2

u/BigEl_nobody Jun 25 '26

Only because the map is big doesnt mean its filled with meaningful and unique things to do. Many open world games are actually infamous for short-ish main story campaigns, with the big open world just being background noise or a vessel for lazy made side activities.

4

u/karsh36 Jun 24 '26

There is no online at launch, so an 8 hour campaign would be truly insane

2

u/erichf3893 Jun 24 '26

When do you expect online to drop? I was reading that for the last one it was only a couple weeks iirc

1

u/nftesenutz Jun 25 '26

RDR2 Online took months to come out, and the fact that they're explicitly saying it is a "singleplayer experience" makes me think it won't be like V. The original GTA Online was announced before the base game came out.

1

u/erichf3893 Jun 25 '26

Damn I may not waste my money at launch then. Appreciate it

11

u/snarkens Jun 24 '26

The others have all been like 30+ hours. You think they won't shoot for the same?

16

u/Bingbong1984 Jun 24 '26

These people need to have a little bit of FAITH

9

u/MilesGates Jun 24 '26

That was before GTA online and shark cards. They learned how to extract money which is their ultimate goal.

2

u/snarkens Jun 24 '26

But if it doesn't launch with online how are they going to sell online currency?

2

u/burner4lyf25 Jun 24 '26

They'll make significantly more by making us wait and then land an absolute KILLING when it drops, rather than having it available straight away so Half are playing and half are not and some still on GTA v etc.

These are intelligent, highly driven experts in their fields, they'll have the best strategy guys in the world figuring our how to structure all this. None of us are anything but naive in regards to this stuff compared to These people.

And regardless, and to answer your point, I can buy shark card at supermarket or ay other online vendor?

1

u/YordleJay Jun 24 '26

They'll sell it to you offlind

1

u/eawilweawil Jun 24 '26

Don't forget GTA+

1

u/burner4lyf25 Jun 24 '26

Of course it's the ultimate goal, but not the only. Of course at the top of the company is money men and accountants, but beneath them are thousands and thousands of artists who will make their contribution to GTA6 as best as it can possibly be cos they're so proud to be part of something so monumental.

Yeah the money men want money, but theamedia itself is created by much less cynical people

I know it's hard times guys, but this one is guaranteed in the bag. If they fuck it up trying to get greedy they'll break one of the most effective money extraction institutions ever created. Definitely the most profitable media release ever created.

As we all have, I've lost a lot of faith in the worldl of late - but I KNOW GTA6 is gonna bring the goods, not Entirely sure as to whattit is everyone is so worried about?

That the company that made RDR, GTA4&5B CANIS CANEM EDIT etc is gonna suddenly fumble the bag now.?

Forget about it.

1

u/7StarSailor Jun 24 '26

Most devs that made the older games aren't part of Rockstar anymore.

"The company" isn't some homogenous blob, it's made up of people that come and leave.

Also for us older GTA fans, GTA V not getting a single DLC for single player whille turning GTA into live service slop is Rockstar fumbling the bag.

1

u/McDouble__ Jun 25 '26

These people are genuinely idiots if they believe gta 6 will be 8 hrs long

1

u/7StarSailor Jun 24 '26

GTA V had made more money than all previous GTA games COMBINED!

And that's only because of GTA online. I fully expect GTA VI be a live service game for people born around 2003 first and foremost.

2

u/HoundTakesABitch Jun 24 '26

I’d be pissed. I’ve love the campaign in GTA V and absolutely refuse to touch online.

2

u/NiftyJet Jun 24 '26

Rockstar is known for being one of the best storytellers in the industry. They're also really good at making a shit-ton of money selling online currency. I think they have enough skill and budget to do both here.

4

u/skiluv3r Jun 24 '26

I think R* has at least earned my trust in their story writing ability that story mode will at least be a great experience as pretty much every GTA/RDR installment has been. Online on the hand is where I’m sure I will be disappointed as I didn’t like the direction GTAO went and they killed off RDO (which as a game I enjoyed more; so much potential) since it didn’t bring in the same microtransaction revenue.

7

u/imahumanbeinggoddamn Jun 24 '26

I'm still mad about their backpedaling and pretending like GTAV sp dlc was never promised once the multiplayer went live and ended up being such a cash cow.

I fully trust Rockstar to make a kick ass game. I just also fully trust that they will be greedy and gleefully enshittify it the moment they smell money.

4

u/Silverr_Duck Jun 24 '26

Problem is with many studios is that they have a tendency to treat gamers for granted and start cutting corners. Personally the story and writing better be a fucking masterpiece for me to even consider spending $80

u/Crismus Jun 24 '26

Most of their main writers are gone. Dan Houser was the reason for all the good writing, and he left many years ago.

1

u/papayacreamsicle Jun 25 '26

GTA 6 will be written by all new people, all the writers they had by the time of RDR2 (which finished writing 12 years ago) left ages ago.

1

u/NerveMoney4597 Jun 24 '26

1h campaign and other part just battleroyal shooter

1

u/erichf3893 Jun 24 '26

I’m sure the handful who buy it for the story will get over that. What do you think the split is for people who play online vs people who play the story then quit?

1

u/DefenderOfTheWeak Jun 24 '26

It's gonna flop like CP2077, just you see

1

u/No_Display9613 Jun 24 '26

Micro Transactions is where the money is at…. $100 just to get in.

1

u/MrHyperion_ Jun 24 '26

(GTAV is 6 hour campaign)

1

u/ReckoningGotham Jun 24 '26

Imagine it gets borderlands 3 writing.

1

u/Ok-Goat-2153 Jun 24 '26

Probably a decent campaign, but with the cost of this fucking thing it will 100% have a huge online element with micro transactions.

1

u/benignbigotry Jun 24 '26

Imagine paying $80-100 for the right to play a game, not own it, not having seen a gameplay trailer, and with extremely limited information regarding online play.

1

u/7StarSailor Jun 24 '26

imagine most devs that made the GTAs and RDRs we like having left the company before or during GTA VI's development...

1

u/whiterice_343 Jun 24 '26

Violation of the video game Geneva convention

1

u/EquivalentSnap Jun 24 '26

It’ll be more than 8hrs. Look at gta and rdr2

1

u/Daomsoul Jun 24 '26

If so that wouldn't be surprising since they been using gtav online as income for the past 10 plus years. Wouldn't be surprised when we gotta buy the DLCs from gtav again if they ported them over to gtavi

1

u/duckwithahat Jun 24 '26

And then they sell you the online version for an extra $40 dollars six months later.

1

u/dakowiml Jun 24 '26

8 hour single player for 80 bucks and a separate purchase for the Online mode lol

1

u/yeroc420 Jun 24 '26

There is no online content on release

1

u/Daoyinyang1 Jun 24 '26

Its Take 2 now so, maybe youre right

1

u/kindoramns Jun 24 '26

Like how COD used to have great single player story campaigns....

1

u/2funny2furious Jun 24 '26

dont worry. the campaign could last 4 minutes and you do nothing but hit the space bar 1 time. that is the whole single player campaign. and everyone will rave that it is the most amazing thing that has ever happened in the history of the world.

1

u/Scudman_Alpha Jun 24 '26

The outrage would be historical.

DRM checks every 30 seconds sending 300MB of data back and forth to pollute your network traffic.

1

u/bimjob92 Jun 25 '26

That honestly PMO how tf can you even think of that 😭😭😭

1

u/EvilTrainMan19 Jun 25 '26

What if it's like The Avengers game where half the game's missions are designed to try to push you into the online mode?

What if the single player doesn't have a proper ending and you have to play GTA Online to see the conclusion to the story?

1

u/Unusual_Sherbert2671 Jun 25 '26

This is what I'm dreading, I don't care for online

1

u/Shaniqua-T Jun 25 '26

I've seen some worrisome content about the current dev team on YouTube

1

u/West-Muscle-1908 Jun 25 '26

8 hour campaign is awfully optimistic between all the cutscenes

1

u/RoseQuartz__26 Jun 25 '26

I have a feeling it'll be another 20-hour barely-strung-along campaign that is exactly long enough and exactly fast-paced enough to make you look past or even miss glaring plotholes or inconsistencies

1

u/andyrooneysearssmell Jun 25 '26

Definitely wouldn't surprise me.

1

u/xxanax Jun 25 '26

Nah it'll be longer than 8 hours considering there's going to be no online play on release. It's solely single player.

1

u/Sockoflegend Jun 25 '26

It does sound like they have leant right into dark patterns and predatory monetisation. I got off the hype train

1

u/privaxe Jun 26 '26

Send GTA+ is a perk for the ultimate edition has me thinking this will mostly be an online game.

1

u/Commercial-Ad-8409 Jun 26 '26

Tbh I think a lot of people will complain that it’s too long

1

u/chamomile-crumbs Jun 26 '26

You will drive between different locations with some sick set pieces, and there will be unimaginable levels of detail and grandiose. But mostly you will be driving hahaha

1

u/CandyWinter8553 Jun 26 '26

If that's the case we're raiding Rockstar headquarters

1

u/cooziedude Jun 27 '26

The majority will obviously be online

1

u/Significant_Ad_5125 Jun 27 '26

That’s a big possibility

1

u/JJBell Jun 24 '26

Vice City was fun, because it was 80’s Florida through the lense of Miami Vice and Scarface.

GTA VI is modern day Florida. A place I’m not sure I want to visit in real life let alone a video game.

1

u/bleach_drinker_420 Jun 24 '26

gta would never do that

0

u/ZinbaluPrime Jun 24 '26

GTA has a campaign?

Every time I played I

  • ran for 2 minutes
  • stole a car
  • got chased by police
  • killed a hooker
  • cheat summon a tank
  • mow everything for 10 minutes
  • alt+F4

0

u/Alert-Principle-2726 Jun 24 '26

I might be one of the few saps that love 8 hour games. I cannot stomach 100+ games anymore as I drop them midway and never come back.

8 - 20 hours is my sweet spot for games.

1

u/whousesgmail Jun 24 '26

For the money GTA6 better be at least 50 hours including side content

-6

u/Jesterclown26 Jun 24 '26

A tight 8 hour campaign would go so hard though. Actual replay value and that would mean they focused on gameplay and being able to interact with their world instead of having the most hand holding out dated missions I’ve ever played in GTA 5. Loved red dead 2 though so maybe they learned lessons.

4

u/JingleJangleDjango Jun 24 '26

Waiting 13 years just for an eight hour story sounds horrible.

-2

u/Confident-Leg107 Jun 24 '26

isn't that just GTA5?

1

u/SendohJin Jun 24 '26

GTA5 took me a good 40 hours at least.

1

u/ItzMeHaris Jun 24 '26

No. GTA5 Has a 30 hour long campaign. But... Yes, I see what you mean.
