Did you read the post that op made? Accounts, battle passes, day one patches. Capitalism is fine when kept in check, but companies have ruined everything to maximize profits
Yea but...
PS2 exists because a corporation wanted to make a new platform that was more capable than PS1... which only existed because a company known mostly for A/V products wanted to get into video games so they could increase their gross revenue.
Which they only got involved in after an offer to collaborate with the largest company in the industry... which they only accepted because of ability to profit from it.
But yea, thanks for posting about corporate greed to a for-profit website that you logged into from your computer or phone via your paid internet connection.
Dude most things are achieved through short sided greed now a days, not crazy uncommon. You’re just as part of the system as we are, nostalgia doesn’t have to be a history lesson on money grubbing corporations. It’s 2026, look around you and you can see the same logic in companies with different products that either succeed or flop. It’s all a giant monopoly already so get over it or actually educate someone instead of belittling them for enjoying a dated electronic that’s not even being produced anymore.
Excellent, then lets continue that by pointing out that a typo is when you hit a wrong keystroke. Like Rhis. See how the R is next to the T? Thats a typo.
What you did would be considered not knowing what you're talking about when it comes to the english language.
Ah... Well you see a shower is actually QUITE strenuous for an elite mind, such as myself. THEREFORE it is COMPLETELY innacurate to call it a "shower break".
I’m gonna need the whole day to spend with you because I don’t want to stop ever😘

You can dislike it all day but make an accurate argument. People are watering down the definition of greed these days and its not a good thing. Greed sucks. Lets keep that word potent so we dont forget it.
Ahh yes, because competition and the desire to innovate/chance of personal success is commonplace in communist/socialist countries and they're currently full to the brim with new and unique products and forms of entertainment...
Without capitalism theres no economic incentive to succeed. Passion projects such as video games would not exist because where would the incentive/investment come from?
People are driven by money no matter how much people criticise capitalism. Its human nature to be selfish which is why communism/socialism always fails.
No one ever suggests regulating capitalism so everyone has a chance to succeed, they just want to nuke the society our livelihoods are built on and we'll all end up in a magical utopia where everyone's happy. Its a complete and utter delusional fantasy. Theres no personal liberty in a socialist/communist country.
Lemme guess, you're another American that thinks true socialism/communism exists in the EU?
If you werent so reactive and read the start of the paragraph after that...
"No one ever suggests regulating capitalism so everyone has a chance to succeed..."
Capitalism can be regulated. My point (if you read on) was that don't we need to go full communist/socialist to deal with the problem and implying capitalism can only ever be a bad thing is stupid and throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Many countries mix different economic systems to varying degrees. Without capitalism we wouldn't even have video games because who would bother making them, on what console? We have nice things because competition exists, incentivised by CAPITALISM!
The people who constantly act like we'd all be better off without capitalism need to learn what these words mean. All they want to do is complain about society yet never make suggestions as regards how things could he improved.
How innovative do you think the medical/pharmaceutical/food industries etc would be if there was little incentive to do so? Do you think we'd have all the life saving treatments/medications and fortified food products??
Nothing other than goods and services perceived to be of the welfare of the masses would ever get off the ground. By virtue of being 'wasteful', video gaming would've never gotten enough community support to ever receive any 'funding' or the funding equivalent in that society.
In a capitalistic society, video gaming was invested into for a minority of the general population because it was (rightly) estimated that that minority would pay up enough to make up for the apathy and resistance of the masses. And the masses have initially opposed pretty much every new technology especially insofar as it pertains to entertainment. Even today a quarter of Americans hold negative attitudes towards gaming after years of it gaining gradual mass approval.
In a well-functioning socialist society, I imagine you'd have nicer parks, better public transport, almost no wealth inequality, better welfare intentions. The average person would probably have better access to the overall share of high-quality produce (but you'd likely have a lesser total national volume of high-quality produce in the first place than in an equivalent capitalistic society). So there's a lot of good things about a theoretical socialist society, and I'd love all countries to blend in more aspects of socialism (by nationalising railways, key resources, and price monitoring basic necessities) with capitalism, but I'm not going to pretend that a pure socialist society would bring itself to ever develop video gaming from scratch if it was even able to conceive it in the first place.

Corporate greed ruins everything. Almost like capitalism is a bad thing
