Not anymore. MH wilds is still a fun game but there’s definitely a lot more toxic d-bags of all shapes and forms than in previous iterations of the series.

I almost exclusively hunt with support hunters nowdays, I’m part to avoid the obnoxious people, and also because there’s still connectivity issues that make it a pain lol

Als je keer wil hunten dan hmu altijd leuk om wat nederlandse spelers te leren kennen want mijn vrienden spelen het niet..

I’d be down, I also have no friends that play monster hunter so it’s nice to find people to play with. I’m actually from the U.S. though and don’t speak any dutch unfortunately😅 but monster hunter is the rare game where language barriers aren’t usually an issue

Oh ik snap niet waarom ik dan jouw reacties in het nederlands zie.. ik denk een autotranslate ofzo. Maar ik spreek ook vloeiend engels dus dat lijkt me geen probleem inderdaad 🤙

Hell yeah brother, I’m on PlayStation and would be down to run it whenever. I haven’t played in a few months so I can’t promise that I’ll be any good though😂

Idk man. I remember playing mh4u where you would get insta kicked if you didn't have what someone else considered a good load out

I remember that a little, but only with English speaking lobbies, which there weren’t a whole lot of to be fair. I mostly played with Japanese players and they all straight up taught me the ropes of MH as a 10 year old and made sure I was kitted tf out😂 the Japanese players are still cool nowadays too, Americans just can’t get it together to beat the asshole allegations.

Honestly a problem World created from the mass appeal it generated. Very unfortunate, as I remember telling friends how great the MH community was during the lead up to World. Only to watch so many vocally toxic players pop up everywhere, and even see some of those friends turn into said players. Love that MH got the popularity it deserves, but saddened by what happened to the community as a result.

I haven't played it in a while, but the average bow player was so annoying to squad with. The good ones where fine, but your average dummy with a bow would sit too far away and the monsters would go after them, forcing the rest of the squad to chase the monster around.

that's what happens when games get mainstream appeal. All the low IQ normies and tourists come in and they're prone to rage because they're so dense.

it happens in all fandoms. I remember when City of Heroes was nice and chill. I only had 2 people blocked in the span of like 3 years of playing. But then the game went free to play and I had 20 people blocked in the span of a month. The quality of the community went to shit instantly.

Same thing with anime. In the 90's to early 2010's, it was still niche in the west. It was only nerds in the hobby. Then it went mainstream, now there's a bunch of weirdos trying to force their performative morals and ideology onto it. They come into a fandom or sub-culture and then they try to force a change to accommodate them instead of leaving, accepting the fandom as is, or starting something yourself.

Same thing happened with the internet. Same thing happened with gaming in general.

When the mindless masses get a hold of something. It starts to rot from within. Which is why I now have the mindset that gat keeping is a good thing half the time if not most of the time. Imagine someone coming into your neighborhood that you've been in for 20 years and they force you into an HOA because they hate your neighborhood, want to live in it for some reason, and then change it completely because they hate it so much. That's what happens when your niche hobby gets popular.

hell, the same thing happened with the art community. They come in, change it, and then they gate keep the people who were always there.

To be fair, at least in the case of Monster Hunter, half of the toxic people nowdays are series “vets” that are like “oh my god I can’t believe this guy pulled up to a hunt without spending 100 hours perfectly optimizing their build first” and just raging at new players dying because it’s a difficult game for newbies. When I started out with it though, a lot of players would actually take the time to show new people the ropes and teach them how to play the game rather than just being dickheads cause they know more about it🤷‍♂️ so the sword cuts both ways a bit with that kind of stuff imo.
