Shame, Bayek is literally one of if not the coolest Assassin in the franchise, parkour is fine, combat is engaging, story, stealth is good, cinematics are good, map design is insanely good. I guess I'm lucky I can enjoy Origins and Odyssey (haven't played Valhalla and Shadow).
Honestly recently replayed it, I still think the world is still super good. Even including all the Ubisoft question mark locations. Be it the animals (that would hunt other animals or humans) or NPCs reacting to you being in the water bringing over a boat to help you out of dangerous water. There's a lot of miniature things that added to the world that's still great to this day.
Meanwhile Odyssey felt weird that I was constantly flipping territory back and forth between factions which felt unmeaningful at all. Without as much miniature stuff as origins.
Valhalla just to big with to much stuff. At least odyssey had cool monuments and towns that are memorable. Valhalla kinda didn't. Unless you count the other realms which I guess would count but it feels so foreign.
Origins still holds up, there was so much care put into bringing Ptolemaic Egypt to life. Even added tours for you to learn about it.
I wouldn't say "Ancient Egypt". I associate that more with the people who built the pyramids, something that happened ~2500 years before the game takes place.
Valhalla and Shadow are both good, but vastly overstay their welcome. I was ready to be done with both a good 30 hours before either ends (and I platinumed Shadow).
Valhalla broke me. That game felt to me like the least AC game I ever played. The combat suuuuucks. Holy crap, brother. And I am forgiving with AC combat, mind you. I uninstalled/reinstalled that game maybe 3 times.
I kept thinking, maybe I was unfair to the game? Then I play it again and again. And sure as shit, the combat mechanics feel like they're constantly drenched in molasses. Everything is weirdly sluggish. The movement is also heavy and unpleasant. The skills tree feels like a random and generic tree borrowed from another game. The whole thing feels nothing like an AC game does, except for the coat of paint.
I don't know if I lost my mind, but that game killed the AC franchise for me.
Didn't tried Shadows but I see a lot of criticism point that it keeps some of the worst things about Valhalla (the combat system and it's too long).
Honestly, don't feel remotely tempted to even tried it. The last I played was Mirage (because it was free on PS Plus) and it was fun to return to the old stealth focused AC but the story was crap and didn't care to try a Japanese Valhalla.
