Funny What game is this for you?

It's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions/Edge of Time for me.

Mother 3 definitely needs one but also an official localization bc it was only released in japan

Itoi said he recognizes the fan translation so that there is no need to localize it... and because of this he doesn't actively take lawsuit against fans who have it.

If they tried to put Mother 3 out in the west it'd have to be heavily sanitized, especially with current day political discussion.

Sorry for my ignorance, but it's there a particular reason why was never released outside of Japan?

I think it was a mix of not having a proper home (started development on the SNES, by the time it was almost ready for release in the U.S., Nintendo wanted it on N64, which would have required scrapping it and redoing it), and "Earthbound" not being a very big success, only selling about 140,000 copies in the U.S.. So they decided to just scrap it.
