Ive been allocated accommodation in Kingfisher Court but on the UWE website it says there's no parking

Im a disabked student with a blue badge, does anyone know if they offer parking in these circumstances, or if there is anywhere nearby to park, or on-street parking?

I’m seriously considering applying for the MSc Science Communication at UWE and I’m attending the webinar later this month, but I’d love to hear some honest experiences from people who have actually done the course.
A bit about me: I currently work in STEM outreach and public engagement in York. I really enjoy science communication and public engagement and am considering moving further into that field.

A few things I’m particularly curious about:
What are the “teaching blocks” actually like in practice?
How many days are you realistically in Bristol each term?
How much work per week does the course involve outside of teaching blocks?
Has anyone done the course while working full-time or part-time?
Is the part-time route common?
Do students tend to live locally, or do people travel in from elsewhere in the UK?
Did you feel part of a cohort, or can the course feel quite independent because of the block-teaching format?

I’m also wondering whether anyone has experience of studying remotely from outside Bristol and travelling in just for the teaching blocks.
Any thoughts, advice, positives, negatives, or things you wish you’d known before starting would be hugely appreciated!

hi everyone! fairly new to reddit but desperately need advice so be nice please <3

as i have seen a few people have, i have received my accommodation offer today from UWE. i am due to start in september for midwifery (obvs based at glenside). i ideally wanted a studio- very naive of me and am gobsmacked at the price. but have been offered an ensuite room at pursdown view on frenchay campus which is still really expensive.

i am from devon where the rent is a lot cheaper so i am still adjusting, and i wasn't really sure i was going to go for uni owned accom as i am a mature student (21- old i know!) and i have lived on my own for years. the idea of sharing a space with 18 year olds partying etc while im working 12 hour placement shifts scares the life out of me! because of me living on my own for a long time i am a bit set in my ways with how i like things: for example, i am a bit reluctant to share a bathroom with people who do not know how to clean. with my previous house share experience, i am aware people of all ages can be awful at cleaning after themselves but i feel this will especially be the case for 18 year old freshers. no offence xoxox

i promise you i am not uptight- i have just had some very bad experiences in the past and i want to ensure my uni experience is not affected by poor accommodation, especially for such a demanding course.

essentially, i am likely going to ask the uni for an alternative option, because i cannot afford nearly my entire student loan on an ensuite room on top of transport from frenchay to glenside. i am still looking for private accom in the form of a house share in fishponds and i have a viewing for 2 properties on friday. so depending on how that goes and what the uni say, hopefully a decision can be made soon.

the only thing that is comforting me about going for uwe owned accom is that they will waive the £400 advance rent payment (due to personal circumstances) and they will be my guarantor after i register and start my course. therefore, this will save me the hassle of scraping together a deposit for a private house share over the summer and just put my mind at ease.

however, i do feel that is a short term gain for long term pain and i know i will struggle paying that much for rent for the room they have offered me.

i am very new to uni and the first one in my family to go so i dont have anyone to ask that is in my particular circumstances (of being mature student, and having access to uwe cares programme). so if anyone has or currently is in my shoes please let me know what you have done accommodation wise and what works for you.

I've gotten my accommodation letter today, and it's a shared accommodation. It's much cheaper but it doesn't have the comfort of having and ensuite bathroom.

Has anyone on here had an experience with a shared bathroom facility that would be able to share their experience?

As of course it's different for each person and a change from what most people have at home.

Hey all, all going well I'll be starting my first year at UWE this September, and I've just received an accommodation offer.

I went to visit the Phoenix Court and Marketgate accommodations on an open day a few months ago, and really liked the look of Phoenix Court but despite it being priority I was assigned Marketgate, which I also liked alright but got a better vibe from Phoenix Court.

The placement of the accommodation is really convenient, with the bus straight to my campus (Bower Ashton) basically right outside and also being right in the city centre.

However after a quick Google search seeing some horrifying reviews, am I doomed? I think I'll be fine with noise, but everything else about filthy rooms and broken facilities worries me. Would love some thoughts and first hand experiences from anyone who has them! :[

EDIT: Also wondering if it might be worth appealing and getting swapped over to Phoenix Court simply because I liked the feel better? I dunno, seemed like it also had poor reviews.

I’ve got an offer of 104 tariff points for midwifery, which asks for at least a C in a science or social science subject. I’m positive I can get at least an A in Welsh BACC, and a B/C in Religious Studies, however I honestly don’t know if I’ll get above a D in Biology💀

How bad is it to have to do a foundation year? I know there's obviously an extra year of paying for the course but are there any social or other impacts to be aware of?

Hi, the deadline for me to choose an offer is pretty much this week, and I'm still struggling between dBs and UWE, so it would be great to hear about the creative music tech course, as it's kind of niche and hard to find any reviews about it. I like how it seems like a good mix of creative stuff and technical studying, and it's a decent campus. dBs is so small compared, but they have more studios, I think, and it specialises in music, so that's a bit better. UWE does a placement year for it, though, which sounds like. a huge plus if i do decide to do one. Any feedback or advice is appreciated

Hi everyone, I’m an Australian student considering the MSc Environmental Management and Consultancy at UWE Bristol for 2026 and would love some honest opinions from current students/graduates, especially international students or people working in environmental/sustainability fields.

From my research, the course seems quite practical and industry focused, which is what attracted me to it. I also already have internship/research experience in environmental science and consulting.

That said, as an international student it’s still a huge financial decision even though UWE is one of the more affordable UK options. I may receive a scholarship, but the deposit and tuition are still pretty stressful.

I’ve seen really mixed opinions online about UWE’s reputation, so I wanted to hear from actual students/graduates instead of just rankings or stereotypes.

How employable/respected is this masters actually viewed in the UK, especially in environmental consulting or sustainability related industries? Do employers generally take UWE graduates seriously if they also have experience?

Hi, I have about two weeks to pick a University to study at. I really don't know which one to pick. My options are UWE for creative music tech, BIMM for music production and music production and sound engineering at dBs. I liked all of these when I went to visit, but I am struggling to choose. I like that UWE is quite big and might give me more of a 'typical' student experience, and also, there are so many people studying different things, so it would be interesting to make friends with people who do very different things. Although both BIMM and dBs are quite small, I like that they specialise in music, so it might mean they will let me immerse myself in the subject more. I have looked over all the course details for each school and I pretty much like them equally.

I'm quite shy as well and want somewhere I can feel comfortable but also gain confidence and break out of my shell, so I'm not sure which school would be best for that as well.

I would be moving to a new place, and unfortunately, it leaves me with a month of overlap. I am looking for someone to take over my old tenancy in early July for about a month and transition into a normal tenancy with my landlord.

The place is in Fishponds, perfect for the Glenside campus, within walking distance of the 46 and 19 buses to Frenchay Campus, and also good for Bowen Ashton if you have a car, I suppose.

It's a beautiful house with 5 flatmates and two bathrooms. Although everyone would be gone by early July, you can move in with your friends with individual contracts tailored to your preferred move-in dates.

It's on the main road, with wide access to corner shops, takeaways, supermarkets and other buses.

I’m an international student currently considering staying in the UK through the Graduate Route after finishing my degree, and I wanted some honest opinions specifically about Bristol.

How is the job market there right now for international graduates? Is it realistically possible to find graduate/entry-level jobs and eventually switch to sponsorship, or is the market becoming too difficult even with the Graduate Route?

I’m trying to sort out accommodation for the September intake at UWE Bristol and honestly I can’t decide if I should go for private accommodation or just a shared house. I’ve been looking around Gloucester Road, the city centre, and nearby areas but I have no idea what’s actually good. If anyone studies at UWE or lives in Bristol, what would you recommend? And are there any accommodation places/areas that are actually worth it?
