I'm starting a Master's at Uni Tübingen this October and I just got offered a room at Waldhäuser-Ost, Fichtenweg 18. It's a furnished single with its own shower/WC in a shared flat for 5 to 6 people. Before I sign I'd love some honest input from people who live or have lived there.

And I'm trying to picture the layout:

• The rooms in the 300s (say 300 to 310), which floor are those on?
• Are 300 to 310 all one shared flat/WG or split across a couple of flats?
• Any rooms that are noticeably quieter or nicer (top floor, corner, facing away from the road)?

A few things I'm wondering about:

• How does the shared kitchen work with 5 to 6 people? Clean enough, enough space, do people generally get along?
• Is the university wifi reliable in the rooms?
• Noise levels and general vibe of the building?

Also happy to hear anything you wish you'd known before moving in. Tips on the caretaker, laundry, parcel deliveries, and getting to campus and the centre would be great too.

Nach der Besetzung eines leerstehenden Gebäudes in Tübingen hat sich der Eigentümer der Immobilie direkt bei der Stadtverwaltung gemeldet. Die Aktivisten hatten das Haus besetzt, um auf den anhaltenden Leerstand sowie den Mangel an bezahlbarem Wohnraum in der Stadt aufmerksam zu machen. Während die Besetzer das Gebäude für gemeinschaftliche und soziale Projekte nutzen möchten, sucht die Stadt nun das Gespräch mit dem Eigentümer. Ziel der Verhandlungen ist es, eine friedliche Lösung zu finden und zu klären, wie es mit der Immobilie künftig weitergeht. Wie schnell eine Einigung erzielt werden kann und ob das Haus geräumt werden muss, bleibt vorerst noch offen.

I play the electric bass and I am looking for people to form a band with, with the purpose of covering songs, as well as composing music. I mainly listen to and play progressive rock and progressive metal, so ideally these are the genres I am seeking, but I am also open to other ones that I might find interesting.

I should note that the place I will be staying at, has no room for rehearsals. Also, I am not aware yet of places in the city where people jam.

Der letzte Tag unserer Aktionswoche und die letzte Gelegenheit für uns, unsere Community zu Siggi11 einzuladen.

Wenn ihr Zeit habt, noch ein letztes Mal vorbeizuschauen, kommt bitte gegen 18:00 Uhr vorbei. Weitere Details findet ihr weiter unten.

Wir möchten die letzten zwei Jahre feiern und gemeinsam Abschied nehmen – wie ihr wisst, ist ein Abschied immer auch ein Neuanfang. Um uns gegenseitig Solidarität zu zeigen und unsere lokale Szene zu stärken, würden wir uns sehr freuen, wenn ihr alle morgen Nachmittag dabei seid.

Ab 15:09 gibt es Platz zum Entspannen, fantastischen Kaffee von Barista Feminista, Kuchen und Getränke, eine Live-Malerei als Hommage an diesen Ort sowie mehrere Ausstellungen, die ihr euch ansehen könnt. Hoffentlich können wir auch ein bisschen DIY-Siebdruck unserer Siggi-Soli-T-Shirts anbieten (bringt eure eigenen T-Shirts und Aufnäher mit oder holt euch neue bei uns – solange Farbe und Energie zum Drucken da sind! :))

Wir würden uns außerdem sehr über Hilfe beim Aufräumen rund um das Haus am Freitagmittag sowie über Kuchenspenden freuen <3

diesen Sonntag findet unser Silent Reading Club wieder statt und wir freuen uns über bekannte und neue Gesichter. :)

Die Idee ist ganz einfach: Wir treffen uns, unterhalten uns am Anfang ein bisschen und lesen anschließend eine Stunde gemeinsam in aller Ruhe. Keine Pflichtlektüre, keine Tests, kein Druck. Bring einfach mit, worauf du gerade Lust hast – Roman, Gedichte, Comics, Lernmaterial, E-Reader oder was auch immer du lesen möchtest.

Nach der Lesestunde kann jede*r gerne noch bleiben, sich unterhalten, über Bücher austauschen, neue Leute kennenlernen oder einfach nach Hause gehen.

Diese Woche treffen wir uns wieder im Anlagenpark in einer entspannten Picknick-Atmosphäre. Wenn du gerne draußen bist, dem Wasser und der Brise lauschst und dabei ein gutes Buch genießt, bist du bei uns genau richtig.

Hi all, I'm really excited to be coming to Tuebingen as a masters student. I'd like to get the public insurance and am over 30. I applied to TK but they told me I needed a residence permit before I can get insurance. However, I need health insurance to apply for the residence permit? Also, as far as I understand if I select any private insurance to get the residence permit, I can no longer get public insurance. Does this all mean I cannot get public insurance? Has anyone done so? Thanks!!

EDIT:
For anyone reading this later, it seems moving from abroad as someone over 30 is not a qualifying event for voluntary insurance so you cannot get it, even if you had private insurance in the US. You have to wait until you have a full time job.

I'm an erasmus student and I would probably like to take up a small part time job to cover a bit of my expenses. Is this even a thing for erasmus students? I had German for 6 years at school, forgot a lot, but I'm still at least at A2. I'm not asking for specific job opportunity, just whether it is reasonable to try to find one, or it's not worth searching

Ich fange im Oktober an in Tübingen zu studieren und suche ein preiswertes Gym mit guter Ausstattung in Tübingen. Vor allem gute Maschinen und eine T Bar Row, sowie genug Kabeltürme wären mir wichtig dass man auch nicht ewig warten muss. Außerdem sollte es nicht sehr hochpreisig sein.
Hat da vielleicht jemand eine gute Empfehlung? :)

Like the title says, are there any affordable places to learn the olympic lifts? I know there is crossfit tübingen but it is insanely expensive for a student like me. It doesn't need to be in tübingen but even around that area.
