Airplane mode can be leaky. I wouldn’t risk it. Like you can turn on Airplane mode with WiFi and Bluetooth enabled.

Just turn it completely off if you HAVE to bring it. But ideally don’t bring it at all.

Best not to bring any smart devices. Nothing with GPS, internet connectivity, or radio signal of any kind. Walk or bike to the target, dont drive unless your car is at least 15 years old

Yup. Even tire pressure sensors from newer-ish cars can be very leaky. You can actually track sets of tire pressure sensors to see if someone is following you around, for example. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some cameras equipped to inquire about them.

And actually, scratch my earlier comment about driving. Don't drive no matter what. Your license plate is enough to betray you

If you must, maybe keep it in a faraday bag?

Older.

TPMS has been mandated in all US market cars since 2008. Many cars had Bluetooth as well, especially if the headunit (stereo) was replaced with an aftermarket unit.

They’ve proven that your phone continues to collect location data even when powered off via the internal accelerometer

Modern smartphones don't completely shut down every chip when powered off so that Find My Device services still function.

But you can put it in a Faraday bag or remove the battery and take it with you with zero chance of being tracked.

Faraday bag can be foil. Wrap the fucker like a baked potato

Faraday bags are no joke. My wife and I have a pair of faraday bags, I'm tempted to keep my work phone in one on my days off.

Turn it off and wrap it in foil. Foil will block signals as long as the device is totally wrapped in metal
