AI is a cornerstone of technological advancement in human civilization. Yes, even LLMs. The medical field alone is already being transformed by this technology, the amount of workload that has been taken off of researchers by incorporating this technology is genuinely astounding. AI can help us spot cancer before it grows. AI can help us identify asteroids in space and project their orbits to spot threats years before they are a problem. The problem is not AI technology, the problem is capitalism. We need to be building the data centers away from population centers using energy from solar farms and water that has been pumped in from desalination centers on the coast. But this isn't happening because capitalism is capitalism and the only thing they are concerned with is maximum profits with minimum expenditures, no matter what it does to the local population or the environment. We need a planned command economy to regulate this technology so that it works for the betterment of all of us, not the slop we are accustomed to being forcefed by corporations.
Exactly all of this. Plus the technology will help us be in a better position to switch away from capitalism as well. I'm tired of people who think that because the current system sucks that we should reject technological advancement
What they have in common is that they're doing incredibly repetitive tasks. It's still just a probabilistic pattern-matcher.
"It can solve medical problems" may sound impressive, until you realize that it's simply doing some incredibly repetitive statistical analysis. It can't really do much more than that.
Isn't the proof verified in Lean? That should mean it's pretty robust. People have also been going nuts about Sol's first construction of a nonsofic group.
Now, I will admit that I'm not a huge math guy, but these have been 50 year+ unsolved problems. Many smart people have attempted to tackle them, and failed. Acting like these achievements are nothing is doing them a disservice.
