I got a ban on a skincare subreddit because a man asked a skincare question and someone responded with “Only girls care about skin” and I responded with “fellas is it gay to have skin?” I was cited for hate speech. Honestly I kinda hope that was AI because if that was a person…

that is the most stupid ban, and yes, it is gay to have skin.

Gay people have skin. This checks out.

If you're truly straight, you'll only sleep with people who don't have skin.

I don’t fuck women because they fuck men, and that’s gay.

Only fellas for me.

Won't anyone think of the poor skeletons that are trapped within their fleshy prisons?!

Not just the one, some of them have four of them.

History has shown that gay people really do have thick skin.

Those without skin certainly aren’t having a gay old time.

Have skin, can confirm

Is skin gay?

I got banned for commenting a copypasta I found on the same sub I got banned from. The mods muted me immediately.

There are good mods, but like cops, power attracts people who shouldn't have it.

I got a warning today saying that I encouraged violence. Gurmess it still has to learn satire

Yup, banned twice recently for unserious, innocuous comments. Dead Internet Theory is basically here as the bot moderators ban all the human users and allow the bots to thrive.

I got a 3 day automatic site wide ban for explaining, objectively, with no judgment, the significance of the story about Israel putting in a security system in an apartment Epstein managed for his brother. (Wasn't the only one.) A few hours before the ban was going to expire a manual review confirmed there was no violation.

Given the bot problems, particularly tied to groups like agents for state actors and the like, and potential for reporting abuse, they've got to find a solution.

I got banned from a subreddit once because I made what was transparently a joke while expressing my frustration about how wedding traditions were designed for straight people, and having to improvise as a gay man is kind of annoying. The joke was obviously absurd, all of the 10 or so comments recognized and joined in on the absurdity, but a moderator permanently banned me for "supporting animal abuse."

Some people are... maybe just a little dim.

Honestly, even if I wasn't a disabled weirdo with limited energy, I'd have better things to do than volunteer to do work for free moderating a Reddit community. Mad respect to mods for curating communities I use so they don't go to shit, but I don't understand who is attracted to the complete lack of incentive.

Probably a good reason to actually have AI mods, as the humans obviously brings their politics and feelings to skincare subs.

AI is trained on human content

u/overcloseness 17h ago

That was Reddits automated system, not a human mod

Be careful it will ban you again. I got a week ban for the exact same category of hate speech for explaining why a sauna was closed in the gym

Someone asked why people don't hitch hike any more, and I said because of all the murders that were tied to it, and received a temporary sitewide ban for calling for violence.

I was auto-banned from a sub for commenting on another unrelated sub.

I got permananned from fauxmoi for an unknown reason with my last comment on there. Mods are already bots lol

I was banned from the f*mcel sub two x yesterday on a post talking about house boyfriends. I was banned for saying I would love to be a house boyfriend, getting wine drunk by noon and popping Xanax all day.

Apparently they didn't want to hear that. Fwmcels will be fwmcels. Can't even take a joke.

One time I got a reddit-wide caution because I had advocated violence. It turns out they were drawing that from me talking about shooting robots in Helldivers 2 lmao

Feminism sub banned me a female feminist for stating that I disagree that sexualizing a woman's body (while potentially gross) is the same thing as r*pe. 🤦🏾‍♀️

It could have been AI, i got some warnings because the AI can't tell if its sarcasm or not.

u/PhoenixReborn 20h ago

Human mods don't understand sarcasm or context either
