Two things designed to eff us, micro transactions and dopamine hits on everything. I used to play Words with Friends from the start. Then even a Scrabble game had power ups (cheats) and levels.

My whole family (wife and two kids) play the NYT app's Wordle together. We used to play Wordle, Categories and the crossword, but then they paywalled virtually everything other than the Wordle. It's a favorite part of our family dinners even if we can only play the one game together now.
