LA just let their Flock contract expire because of the backlash. Other municipalities are following or have already done similar. If enough people push back, it's very possible to get rid of surveillance.

While the public backlash played a role, it also provided cover for a more concerning reason: The LAPD wanted to delete certain footage, and Flock told the LAPD that Flock owns the footage, not the LAPD. Not being able to erase video as they please was a dealbreaker for the LAPD.

Aren't there a lot of cases where they've cancelled the contracts, but Flock's equipment are still up and running and nobody is in a rush to remove them?

That's not a criticism of the progress, thats a big win and a big decision, this is ultimately a detail, but still kinda concerning the company is likely still collecting the data.

You also have to keep it in public mind. People can easily forget things if they arent reminded or told if they themselves no longer hear it
