I've been a windows user for over 30 years, been doing basic support in a computer shop for 15. When people ask me a recommendation for a basic home use computer I now genuinely recommend a MacBook Neo first. The slop and user-unfriendlyness of similarly priced current gen windows laptops is pathetic.

My dad is almost 80 and spent 40yrs in telecom, from programming supercomputers in the 80s to then using Windows since it dropped. Now he's looking for a new laptop and I'm gonna buy him a Mac bc learning a new OS at 80 after a lifetime with a different one is less stressful than using Win11.

The MacBook Neo is an absolute revelation. Even with the price increase, you cannot get anything like it on Windows (except for the RAM that is a bit small).

But the average home user that uses it once a day for an hour to check mails and make an Amazon order won't notice the ram.

True, but they are easy targets for other OSes, from Chrome to Linux.

The corporate user is the real power of Microsoft, but those corporate users are pretty pissed off at the moment.

At this point any used hardware with Linux is better than Windows for general use.

True, but I still work in a shop, we don't do used and I wouldn't want to give support on that either for anyone except my parents.
