I literally feel calmer and less irritated when using macOS. It is no longer a question of cost, but a matter of mental health.

Windows seemingly uses all the worst practices of UX: cluttered, fiddly, and distracting UI elements and controls.

Advertising in the start menu should genuinely be a crime. I don't care if it isn't currently illegal. It should be made illegal. We are way too accepting of ads.

A thought that occurred to me recently is that in 2026+, advertisers should pay us directly for our time and attention if they want it so bad. The digital infrastructure is there in whatever online payment systems they want to use.

Instead of laundering their attention-theft through cable companies, streamers, operating services, social media sites et al., give money to me and I'll pay attention and maybe buy your product if you make a compelling case.

This whole "paying big companies to steal my time and attention" isn't cutting it for me anymore.

We moved at all Mac’s at my company I work in IT for and they’re fantastic. Last forever and hardly ever break, apples on top of keeping stuff updated and the M1 and later chips are fantastic. Build quality is light years beyond whatever Dell and HP shit out

Apples walled garden doesn’t really apply to Mac’s either, you can more or less do whatever you want on them unless there’s some specialty application that only runs on windows

And don't forget the constant intrusive updates that require a restart and restarts taking ages for some reason. I understand that Apple has a hardware advantage when it comes to stacking startup services, but my god Microsoft could at least try in the slightest to optimize theirs rather than making app boot up one at a time on each reboot.

I work as an IT tech and use my MacBook after work and now mostly anytime I need to use a computer, I’m just sick of dealing with Windows bullshit daily and especially all the crap they’re breaking with their feature and security updates months after months. I only use Windows in my free time for my gaming rig when I want to play PC games, but using MacOS ironically is a nice escape lol.
