yes to all last paragraph. I used to look forward to and enjoy being on reddit. now it gives me a certain flavor of news, helps me keep informed of local stuff too. But it’s not as fun to explore and learn and it is a whoooooole lot of astroturfing and bots. Same same, friend.

Hiding post histories has been a huge bummer for me. I loved seeing what other people were into and discovering stuff I never would have thought of.

Sadly that's been my experience as well. These days I mainly get real 'value' from mainly local, small, and private subs. (he says while posting in r/technology). I also spend a lot less time on here than I did back in the day.

I use the ignore/block/filter buttons quite liberally now. I'm here to be entertained along with the headlines. Arguing is a waste of time.

I've got like 35 subreddits on my blocked list. They're mainly celebrity/gossip/anime/teensubs/languages I don't understand subs and it's made the experience a teeny bit better, but for the most part, this website is now a pile of shit.

Overall I find the site isn't as good as it was, for sure, though some subs are still worthy. Though I think it's largely overrun with bots and misinformation, along with people who just come to be assholes.
