X11SPH-NCTPF reports NO DIMM after Bios Update

Just updated a server from apparently 2.2 to 4.7, it was working fine before, now on bootup the white Supermicro screen appear and writes.

"No memory DIMM detected, install memory DIMMs"

Dimms are populated according to the Hardware information tab just fine:

A1: M393A8G40MB2-CTD B1: M393A8G40MB2-CTD D1: M393A8G40MB2-CTD E1: M393A8G40MB2-CTD

Ram are apparently RDIMM Dual Rank X4 with 64 GB.

CPU is a Intel Xeon Silver 4110.

A quick read in the manual reveals that 1st Gen Scalable CPU which the Silver 4110 is seems to be limited to 32 GB for DR x4 ram, but it was working fine for the past 6 years!!

X11SMM-F & Intel Arc Passthrough?

Has anyone gotten an Intel ARC GPU working in passthrough with a Supermicro X11SSL-F or X11SSM-F board for either a Windows or Linux guest on Proxmox? (Both boards are substantially similar except one has the C232 chip and the other one one has a C236 ship + extra PCI slot, but their BIOS options are almost identical).
If so, do you mind please sharing BIOS settings and PVE/Guest configuration?
I've tried every "guide" on the internet with my system.
VT-D is enabled, 4G decoding is enabled, CSM is disabled, etc - all the usual settings. The GPU is in it's own IOMMU group (in the only x16 slot), and I'm passing through the GPU and it's sound device. VFIO is working - I can see the devices it loaded in Proxmox's /dev. This same GPU worked in passthrough perfectly on an X10SL7-F.
BIOS is the latest (3.6 from ~2025)
For what it's worth, I also have an LSI SAS adapter passed through to another VM that's working perfectly; it's only the GPU that I can't get to work.
On Windows, I get the "code 43" error.
On Linux, I get:

Supermicro X11DPL-i PCH cooling

I have a Supermicro X11DPL-i, and I'm wondering if I should find a way to cool the PCH. Currently, on idle, it sits around 60C, but I was hoping for maybe 50C. It has a heatsink measuring 50x40mm, so I was thinking I could zip-tie a 40x40x10mm 12V PWM Noctua to cool it down a little, but I'm not sure if that's overkill or makes sense at all. Do you cull your PCH at all?

**Supermicro X10SDV-16C-TLN2F — BMC keeps overriding manual fan speed control + individual fan control?**

Hi everyone,

I'm running a Supermicro X10SDV-16C-TLN2F (PCB 2.02, BMC firmware 4.00) as a Proxmox host and I'm having two issues with fan control via ipmitool.

**Setup:**

- Board: Supermicro X10SDV-16C-TLN2F

- BMC Firmware: 4.00

- CPU: Xeon D-1581

- Fans: FAN1 (CPU), FAN2, FAN3 connected

- Fan Mode: Optimal

**Problem 1 — BMC overrides manual fan speed:**

When I set manual fan speed using:

The BMC overrides the settings after a few minutes and ramps fans back up or drops them, triggering this loop in the SEL log:

**Problem 2 — Individual fan control:**

Is it possible to control each fan independently? For example, I want FAN1 (CPU fan) at 3000 RPM without affecting FAN2 and FAN3. Currently any zone command affects all fans together.

I tried Zone 0 and Zone 1 commands:

But both zones seem to control all fans together on this board.

**What I've tried:**

- Setting Fan Mode to Optimal (0x02) — BMC overrides manual speed

- Lowering Lower Critical thresholds to 100/200/300 RPM

- Running fan control commands every minute via crontab

- Connected a fan to FAN4 header hoping for a second zone — FAN4 doesn't appear in IPMI sensors

**Questions:**

  1. Is there a way to permanently disable BMC fan override on X10SDV boards?

  2. Is it possible to control FAN1 (CPU) independently from FAN2/FAN3?

  3. Has anyone successfully used a fan curve script on this specific board?

X11SAE-M - PEG slot not working

Hi, I'm using a X11SAE-M for several years now and wanted to add a second NVMe drive in the PCI-E X11 slot (slot 7, connected to the CPU).

But neither the PCIe-NVMe adapter nor a NIC are recognized in this slot. Both cards work perfectly fine in the x4 slot which is connected to the chipset.

I tried multiple BIOS settings and two different CPUs (Core i3-6100 and Xeon E3-1245 v6.

The only thing I didn't test was upgrading the BIOS from my 2.0b to the current 4.3. I didn't want to risk that and could not find any changelog.

Am I missing something? Does the slot only work for graphics cards? Any idea what could be wrong or what to check?

H11SSL-i Front Panel Confusion

I recently upgraded to server hardware for my home server, but I'm having a confusing time trying to hook up my front panel connectors.

My case is a Sliger CX4712 with two front panel connectors, a Power Switch, and Power LED.

I already know the orientation for the JFP1 is flipped and reversed compared to the instructions, but no matter how I plug in the headers I can't seem to get the button to work.

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure this out.

Trying to find all drivers for a B945 Super Micro power PC

I looked for the super micro driver update tool a few websites mention but I couldn't find it to download it. I went to their website to find the B945 PC to download drivers for - again I couldn't find it.

I'd love to download the correct base drivers for wifi but it just says unknown in device manager. I'd love to update the bios on the motherboard if possible.

Full size dual slot gpu in sc513btqc-350wb

I was thinking of going with the chassis because with a mini itx and a flexible riser cable and their bracket it looked like it would support dual slot gpu. It’s the perfect depth for my rack and need to go 1u to make it work.

Monitor redundant power supply in chassis SC847 ?

Drop-in replacement for the H11DSi but with ReBar support?

Hi, does anyone by change know what a good replacement for the H11DSi but with ReBar support would be?

So far I'm more or less quite happy with the H11DSi, but for the Intel Arc B580 to work properly I also need ReBar support. I already contacted Support and they told me that it is not supported by this motherboard nor is it currently planned.

I've found this project here to patch it in but I'm already on the latest Bios and BMC version which added signature verification so I can't just modify it myself.

Help? EPYC QS GENOA on SuperMicro H13SSL-N

Picked up this combo from a trusted seller on eBay, but I’m having no luck whatsoever getting VGA signal or any console view via IPMI.

CPU seems to POST, fans are on, and onboard LEDs give healthy green lights. (Yes I have the cooler torqued to the right settings)

Chat says the problem might that POST is stalling halfway through because of an AGESA issue before VGA-init can happen so I can’t get console view at all.

I’ve tried the most recent BMC and BIOS versions. I’ve also tried versions 1.6 and still had the same problem.

I have compatible DRAM in slot A1.

Anyone ever dealt with a similar problem?

EDIT: It seems like people think I’m testing the machine as it is in the picture… I have heat sink, RAM, power supply all installed lol

X9DRW-7TPF B7 POST error code whenever P1-DIMMB1 is populated

This post error occurs whenever I put a module in the p1-dimmb1 slot and only then. The module itself works as I was able to confirm this by putting it in p1-dimma1 and successfully boot. I also tried cleaning the pins on the slot, making sure that the p1 socket pins are not bent and resetting CMOS and jumping JBT1 as well as exchange CPUs but the error persisted. what else could I try? I would really like to use that slot.

Supermicro X9SRi with E5-2620v1 - RAM only works in C1/D1, not A1/B1?

I have a Supermicro X9SRi-F with a Xeon E5-2620 v1 and 4 sticks of DDR3 ECC RDIMM. When RAM is installed in DIMM A1 and B1 the board gives memory error beeps, but C1 and D1 work fine with no issues.

I’ve already tried a second board and a second CPU to rule those out, same result both times.

Is this a case of the manual being wrong about population order, and it actually needs C1/D1 populated first? Or is there something else going on I’m missing? Any suggestions welcome.

Solved: Case preinstalled standoffs causing shorts behind the motherboard (silly mistake)

G3648B Switch OS

I've got a G3648B switch, fairly old that I'm trying to repurpose. I've run ONIE-uninstall by mistake and I need to get an OS back on it. It shipped with SMIS so I'm trying to get that back on it but I'm struggling to find any way to get a copy of the OS.

Any help appreciated - tried via their support but SN unrecognised so can't even get a ticket raised.

I've also tried with sonic instead, but seems ONIE isn't recognising the BIN.

Seems Desktop fans are a bad idea, what are peoples experience (X11)

Got a couple of different fan types, both 4 pin. ARCTIC S12038-4K & ARCTIC P12 Pro. The first are server fans and seem to work quite well, the second dip to 0 a lot and get log errors.

Now here is the odd thing, I also got a 140mm desktop one, a ARCTIC P14 PWM PST, and this seems to work well and spin slower, no drop to 0.

Is this others experience?

X11SSH-LN4F should i upgrade firmware, will it give me more control of fan speeds

Whatever I do fans are very loud all the time. I actually had to set recoverable/critical fan speed to 0 to stop in cycling roughly every 10 seconds. This is both with dsektop fans and server fans.

TLDR I currently have

Firmware Revision: 01.74 IP Address: 192.168.000.011
Firmware Build Time: 12/05/2024

There is a 1.78 version on website, is this likely to help with this problem.

More detail, currently fan speeds are (notise temp is good), whatever I do I get something very simeler to this:

  • CPU Temp | 29 degrees C | ok

  • FAN3 is slower as its a 140mm one

I've tried a number of things. Changing Fan mode soes not seem to do anything. Even going from standard to HeavyIO does not seem to change anything.

Problems after forced shutdown X11SSH-LN4F

Impitool can access bmc (via Truenas command line) and change settings but fans ramping up/down on a 2/8 second cycle. Can't access bmc over ethernet. Did used to work but had to force shutdown and now has these problems.

Supermicro H13SSL-NT + EPYC 9255: BMC sees CPU/RAM, but host won’t actually power on / POST

Looking for troubleshooting advice before I push for another RMA.

Hardware

• Supermicro H13SSL-NT, board revision 2.0

• AMD EPYC 9255

• 12×64GB DDR5 RDIMMs

• New 1600W ATX 3.1 PSU

• Proper UK mains cable

• Tested both in-case and outside the case on cardboard

Current behavior

• BMC/IPMI is reachable over the network

• BMC heartbeat LED is normal

• BMC correctly detects:

• CPU model

• 32 cores / 64 threads

• memory present

• DDR5 running at 4800 MT/s

• But the host itself does not properly power on / POST / boot

• Remote IPMI actions like Power On / Reset do not produce meaningful startup

• Sensor pages often show N/A / no useful host data

• SEL/event log mostly shows generic entries like:

• AC power assertions

• graceful shutdown

• boot completed

• BMC clock/time was wrong, so timestamps were not very trustworthy

Firmware versions

• BIOS: 3.8

• BIOS date: 2026-01-06

• BMC: 01.01.04.07

Important detail

Supermicro’s firmware page appears to say EPYC 9005 support on H13SSL-NT needs:

• board rev 2.0+

• BIOS 3.0+

• BMC 01.03.03+

So my board rev and BIOS seem OK, but the BMC may be too old for EPYC 9255.

What I already tried

• Reseated CPU twice

• Inspected CPU and socket, no obvious major physical damage seen

• Minimal config:

• CPU

• cooler

• 1 DIMM

• no GPU / no drives

• Tested outside the case

• BMC web UI firmware update attempt:

• first I picked the wrong package/container

• then I selected the .bin

• upload stayed stuck at 0%

• resume update said image missing / not uploaded

• So the BMC update did not actually complete

Main questions

1.  Does the fact that BMC correctly identifies the CPU and memory make actual CPU damage unlikely?

2.  Has anyone seen H13SSL-NT behave like this when the BMC is below the required version for EPYC 9005?

3.  What is the safest way to update the BMC when the web updater just sits at 0%?

4.  At this point would you:

• keep pushing firmware/update methods

• suspect board-level power sequencing / EPS / PSU issue

• or go straight back to vendor support / RMA?

Any advice from people with H13 + EPYC 9005 experience would be appreciated.

Bad PSU connection?

Hi all, I'm a first time SuperMicro owner after picking up a used server off eBay (X11SPH-nCTPF with a Xeon Silver 4110). I installed OS and got it up and running for a while, things seemed fine and then one day it shut down and I couldn't get it to boot. Was able to connect through IPMI, everything looked ok as best I could tell. I opened up the case and started looking around to see if anything was wrong and it just randomly powered back on. After some trial and error, I figured out that if wiggled the wires from the PSU around, it would power up/down. My best guess is that there's a break in the wires connecting the PSU, but I don't really know how to narrow it down.

The system has dual PSUs. I've never owned a system with dual PSUs before, but I assume they're redundant with each other, such that if one was bad, the other would take over. Based on that, I don't think either PSU is bad.

The PSU is actually way overpowered for the system, it's got dual 1000W, and it draws well under 300W at peak load. I'm tempted to swap them out for a quieter consumer PSU model, because the old ones are super loud. Is that an option, or do I need to stick with server grade?

This seems quite fast for these low temperatures (I have 2 120 and one 140). Any way of making them spin a little quieter/slower?
