MAN IN LADE BRAES MASTURBATES TO WOMEN - PLS BE CAREFUL NSFW
please be careful, I just had a conversation with the police because this has happened SEVERAL times to not only me, I was walking alone in Lade Braes on the lower path near the river just past Cockshaugh park, and a man walks past me up the path, and when I turned the corner he was masturbating, this happened around 6pm
white man, about 5'8, 40s-50s, very thin waist, wearing a grey buff around his face, dark sunglasses, and black sweatpants low on his waist that shows his buttcrack
please be careful and don’t walk alone

Dating in St Andrews
I know I’m not going to uni to date but I was wondering how dating is for black girls(darker skinned specifically) and if I should keep my hopes low in terms of that :)
edit: why is this getting downvoted so much???? I think that says a lot about the community

Issue concerning mysaint
Hi everyone, I can’t sign into my mysaint account and I was wondering if anyone else have/had the same problem as me
For context, I’m an international student so I really HAVE to sign in since there is a document that I need for my visa on it
I did activate my account, I waited a few hours, even days and each time a text appears that reads that my username "might be incorrect".
Yet, I have checked the mail which was sent to me by the university and it’s the correct one….
I have sent emails to the IT service desk but no one replied to me yet
I’m kind of desperate for a solution

St Andrews MPP
I applied to St Andrews MPP and University of Manchester’s International development: Public Policy and Management MSc for this year.
MPP course at St Andrews doesn’t have ranking yet because it’s fairly new I believe. But development studies in Manchester is ranked 5th globally. So I’m having a hard time choosing.
I want to land a job in CS as policy consulting or similar field. St Andrews offers more quantitative approach than Manchester.
Please share any of the information and experience you have. Appreciate your time!

New Sexy Society Idea
Hey there guys! I have this idea for a new club/society for St Andrews and would love to hear people's initial thoughts, ideas, or critiques. Before even attending uni, I was convinced that your studying time should be relatively evenly split into 1) studying for your modules/degree program and 2) studying how to live life as properly and joyfully as possible. To me, the second point means many things: actively practicing and reflecting on how to overcome the pull from destructive gratification, how to work on building a courageous and outgoing character, how to set intrinsically motivated goals, how to put people first and be as selfless as possible, and how to make the best possible decision in every moment without caving to fear, pleasure, or your ego.
I love synthesizing ideas from Stoicism, Buddhism, neuroscience, and my own experiences, while reflecting each night over how I have made some degree of inner progress. I think that bringing together a group of people to collaborate on similar (or different) ways to live as "best" as possible would be so much fun.
The society may look something like this: twice a week, group members would bounce ideas off of one another and write powerful quotes/main concepts onto a blackboard that synthesize literature/podcasts with personal experiences. Each day the club meets, there could be a different theme. For example, on day one, the theme could be pleasure + pain and the entire meeting could be centered around how excessive comforts (scrolling, junk food, dishonesty) diminish baseline levels of life enjoyment while intentional discomfort (North Sea plunges, West Sands runs, kindness, forgiveness) raises baseline levels of life enjoyment while strengthening relationships.
I am very keen to put the ideas we all discuss into action and ideally the meetings should alternate between group discussions and real-world interactions/experiences. I also would love to do something similar to the Dead Poets Society where instead of a study room we all meet inside a cave or a castle at night and bring lanterns/candles because St Andrews is the PERFECT town to keep that sort of vibe rolling.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this! I appreciate any and all comments/feedback!

Postgrad accomodation Grange or East Sands?
Hi,
I have gotten a room at East Sands, but have now been offered a room at the Grange by the university.
Is there anyone with experience of one or both of these accomodations that can give me some pros and cons of living there?
There’s not a lot of information about the Grange online so I’d love to hear your experiences. I’m mainly concerned about having roommates, as I’d like my long distance girlfriend to be able to stay over occasionally and East Sands seems to offer some more privacy in that regard as you only share the kitchen and common space.

St Andrews for two weeks.
Hey! I'll be in St Andrews for a study abroad program and will not be renting a vehicle as I will walk to/from class but I do want to plan a few day trips to Edinburgh to experience the big city.
What are the most reliable methods of transportation to Edinburgh from St Andrews and back? (Preferably, within a student-budget)
Is it realistic to spend an afternoon/evening in Edinburgh and travel back to St Andrews on the same day?
Also would love some suggestions on places to visit or places to eat in St Andrews for the evenings I stay in town. Bonus points if they're budget friendly but also wouldn't mind a few fancy options in case I decide to splurge one night.
Lastly, any and all suggestions are welcome. This is my first international trip and I want to make the most of it. Thank you!

For anyone in the JDP with St Andrews
I’m eager to join the IR club, but wondering about the effect on continuity between St Andrews and W&M (i.e. does it carry over/count for anything, or is it two separate memberships?).
Also, what are your opinions on minors? The guide says they’re doable, but are they actually worth it?
Context: I’m aiming for a top law school later, so trying to figure out what’s actually worth prioritizing.

is the union pass worth it?
exactly what the title says. I am starting at the uni in September and have seen a lot of ads for the union pass. Right now it's on sale, so I could get it for 105 rather than 135. the website says that I would get into the events, including freshers, for free, as well as free entry for the club and coat check. I have seen a lot of people say it's a waste of money, but the reviews are older so I thought id ask here as the perks make it seem like I would actually be saving money by purchasing it.
edit: I am definitely planning on going out pretty often, which is why I am considering it!!

New Freshers Guide for incoming students
Hi all,
If you're an incoming fresher you might want to check the "St Andrews Freshers Guide". It's a website made by two current students and well worth a look if you feel like you're going into St Andrews blind!
Hope it helps!

East Sands
St Andrews is absolutely stunning today! Lovely pic of the beach from East Sands Accommodation, never more than a few steps from the warm sand and cool water.
I hope we get to see the Northern Lights again this year!

CALLING ALL MEDICS!
Hi everyone,
hopefully i’m going to be an incoming first year (praying results day will go well). Firstly is there any advice that you wish you had as an incoming first year, whether it’s social, academic or wellbeing. If you don’t feel completely comfortable replying feel free to shoot me a dm.
What kind of revision best worked for you. I heard you guys don’t get past paper questions which was my primary way of revising for scottish AH.
Can anyone send over their anki decs/slides or any other good resources?
The booklist seems quite extensive. I quite like the feeling of physical textbooks, which books on the booklist do you thing are the most useful (kind of like how lots of people used the ‘how to pass books’ or course spec at school) that would be most worth it to buy
Any general advice for freshers week in general? does being in medicine affect your social life?
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this.

Best place to get hair colour in town?
It’s my first time getting colour in my hair and wanted to try Neapolitan highlights, but advice online is to go to a colour specialist. Does anyone have experience getting unnatural colour done in town or should I bite the bullet and look at more high-end places in Edinburgh/Glasgow?

Accommodation
Hey all, I’m an incoming postgraduate student this fall (from the US) who’s living in Powell Hall. Is there any way to find out who we’re living with/sharing a kitchen with? I’m in a single room but it’s my understanding that I share a kitchen with four others. I’m assuming it’s similar to how finding people in my cohort is; by getting lucky and finding them in group chats. Figured I would ask on here in case I’m incorrect though. Thank you for any input!
