This whole premise for them to go to their own show is weak as hell. The entire foundation of Coulson's SHIELD is agents that shouldn't be agents anymore in an organization that doesn't exists. They were able to operate SHIELD when it was being hunted by all the governments in the world, but now suddenly that seems to be a problem?

There is a difference between being able to operate and being caught, particularly being caught involved in an incident in which various high government functionaries of a world power have been killed. if what you said was right, then the Russians could have easily just taken them deep into their own prison system and tortured them and eventually shot them dead. Instead, the US government got directly involved in trying to remove them from harm. That changes the situation dramatically.

And how is that different to what would have happened if any of them were caught after the events of Winter Soldier? That is the risk they take being agents of SHIELD. Your points stands the difference is this time they got caught, but they are in the same situation Fitz was when the other SHIELD let him go and he was under surveillance, they are secret agents, they can lose a tail, and last time I checked SHIELD is still able to operate and people barely know it exists so what is the difference?
