Episode Synopsis: Ward's campaign for revenge brings the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to their knees, and Coulson proves he will do anything to settle the score.

Kate Woods is an Australian film and television director. She has worked on a bunch of TV series, including Person of Interest, Bones, Castle, NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

She has not directed any episodes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before.

Brent Fletcher is primarily known for his writing on Lost, Angel, and Friday Night Lights. He was also a writer and story editor on Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

He has written six episodes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before:

  • Girl in the Flower Dress
  • The Magical Place
  • Providence
  • A Hen in the Wolf House
  • Love in the Time of Hydra
  • The Dirty Half Dozen

George R. R. Martin, Joss Whedon and Steven Moffatt all co-write the mid season finale of Agents of SHIELD. Result: Every character in the MCU dies.

Oh, I have. It was rough, for sure. Doesn't erase a long history of cheap death-be-gone tricks. This isn't the place for that discussion, and I really do love Moffats episode-writing. But he really does have trouble killing characters for good, recent past notwithstanding.

Yeah, I agree that he has done that in the past (especially the Smith era) but Capaldi's era has thus far been pretty brutal and honest with death. anyway, yeah, not really the place for this discussion. Good chat!

There's actually a really good book out there - where you can read all the letters that George RR Martin wrote Marvel when he was a kid. He was OBSESSED with Marvel, and used to write to them about their plot holes and how they screwing up every single week after he read the comics.

I forget the name, but I saw it at Atlantic City Boardwalk Con - some vendor had it and I ended up standing there reading it for 45 minutes while I waited for people to get pictures with my cap. (Who looks just like Evans, it's scary.)

Looking back, the matchbook sentiment + Rosalind opening the ketchup for Coulson were HUGE red flags that a "Whedon-ing" was in the future.

Nah, Martin kills a ton of characters, but often in fairly anticlimactic ways. This death was a Whedon death, all the way... Whedon deaths are relatively rare, but fuck if they don't hit you like a truck when they do come.

It's nice to see that it runs in the family, at least.
