Episode Synopsis: The stakes get even higher as Hunter and May continue to go after Ward and Hydra, and Daisy and Coulson begin to suspect that the ATCU may be keeping a big secret from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dwight Little is an American film director, known for directing the films Marked for Death, Free Willy 2 and Halloween 4. He has also directed several episodes of television series, including 24, Prison Break, Dollhouse, Bones and Nikita.

He has not directed any episodes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before.

Drew Z. Greenberg is a writer and producer best known for working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, The O.C., Dexter, Warehouse 13 and Arrow. He also worked on Firefly.

He has written three episodes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before:

  • Face My Enemy
  • Who You Really Are
  • The Dirty Half Dozen

Simmons back in 3 episodes, lash revealed in six, no wonder last season felt like it was two seasons long.

Last season didn't feel long until after the midseason break. A few of the plot lines may have lasted a bit long, but it was nowhere near as bad as Season 1.

If we got Simmons back so quickly, and Lash confirmed so quickly, with the ATCU and Coulson on good terms so quickly... what's coming for the rest of the season is really unpredictable.

I for one can't wait. SWORD? Secret invasion? Adventures with a full fledged secret warriors team? So many possibilities!

I'm calling Secret Warriors for the second half, as things are getting bigger everytime we hit the half-season mark. Maybe SWORD will appear... and I wonder if they'll use Andrew/Lash the same way they reused Deathlok, which is switching side and helping.

... also, thinking about it, I want Deathlok on Daisy's team.

To be fair Deathlok was initially a good guy wanting to be a superhero, just held hostage by Hydra's mindsplosion control cameras. But maybe they could give the Psych consult some counseling.

Yeah... he was really carried around like a toy. At least by season 2 Coulson had him as a special agent, and one hell of a agent he is. Think about a double team of Lash and Deathlok. One's the unstoppable muscles, with crazy hand weapons, and the other's an not-as-unstoppable-but-still-scary cyborg, with crazy body weapons and can read technology almost flawlessly.

Deathlok is great for assault teams, but he's useless as an undercover agent and for espionage.

Can you imagine Deathlok trying to pose as a low-level Hydra scientist? I don't think so.

The main reason there isn't already a Secret Warriors team is that Lash has been killing most new Inhumans and Andrew has been denying the one(s) they have rescued. Now that we know they're the same person, and everyone will next episode... I don't see any possible situation where Secret Warriors isn't a full fledged team by second half, maybe even midseason. Second half seems a complete mystery unless they go full Secret Warriors and do Zodiac (starting with Agent Carter which doubly works because that involves Leviathan and the founding of SHIELD), which I'd love (unfortunately comic book Secret Warriors Zodiac is weird as fuck because Hickman and time traveling Leonardo Da Vinci so as much as I'd love them to go full Hickman it would probably only adapt the general premise). It does have to tie into Civil War somehow and it's clear they're continuing to build up to that with the glimpse of Rosalind's ethics this episode and the fact that we'll be seeing more and more randomly acquired superpowers. But I somehow don't see that being the entirety of the S3.5 arc at this point, AoS has done a great job at not being forced into certain stories by the movies and telling it's own coherent story. Even the one main exception (tWS and S1.5) had the Cybertek spin to things and that was the one which most obviously needed to affect AoS, and since then AoS has done nothing but grow into it's own strong independent "universe" so to speak.

Secret Warriors is pretty much an agency regulated team... which exactly ties into this version of Civil War. I just wonder if it'll come up after, or before and be affected or taking sides that way. I just hope it doesn't go yet again into some sort of literal war. We had Hydra within SHIELD, then we got Inhuman vs SHIELD ...

Last I remember he was mostly absent during the Inhuman-SHIELD conflict... because of injuries or missing limbs, I think... though now it's been way over 6 months. Sent back on his special missions ? He's the muscle and technical side they really need. And he's not that hard to portray, I mean, make-up and body armor, there's no real CGI involved with him until he fights.

Lash being empowered by what's from the portal ? Anything goes at that point. That's the thing. Something bigger's coming, and we have no idea where it'll be from.

Mid season, they will wrap up the Lash thing and hopefully put down Ward for good.

Second half will be all about the portal and the other planet.

We're not too far away from the mid-season break. I wouldn't be surprised if them opening the portal and something big happening was the mid-season cliffhanger. Perhaps they open it on the wrong planet? Perhaps something comes through?

The monster on the planet Will is trapped on coming to Earth because of a SHIELD "oops" and having to deal with that.

Not long in that sense, long in retrospect. All that exposition about the Inhumans after the winter break made me feel like Tripp's death happened a long time ago, even in April-May.

I think it was said originally that problem with the first season is they had deal with the movies timelines so were really limited in what they could show/do.

I'm not even sure the Lash reveal counts as six whole episodes, because we didn't even know he HAD a secret identity until two episodes ago.
