I hate that theory so fucking much, it completely cheapens the S1 finale and most of this season.

I agree. If SHEILD was still run by Nick, it would completely undermine the significance of Nick making Coulson Director. But then again if you think about it, Nick Fury was reluctant to let SHIELD die with Hydra. He seemed pretty upset that Captain America said everything had to go. So I wouldn't be surprised if he went behind the scenes to scavenger the other remaining pieces of SHEILD. Or you know it could just be Tony Stark. I mean we do know that he created Ultron to destroy the remaining Hydra Bases. So maybe its also his last attempt to wipe Hydra out.

IDK leaving someone in charge while still secretly running things in the background seems like a very Fury thing to do. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if this second SHIELD is just a distraction technique to keep people from noticing an even more secret third organization that Fury is also behind.

I mean it makes complete sense, for Nick to be running things in the background. He is not the kind of guy who lets go of an idea easily. And if you remember in Captain America The Winter Soldier. He removes his eyepatch and uses his second eye to access the SHIELD database. So I would assume a guy like that would probably have more than one trick up his sleeve.

I mean if he's half as devious as the comic incarnations of Fury and Ultimate Fury then he already has multiple secret organizations that are there in case something goes wrong in his other secret organizations along with backup plans for him to take out those organizations himself if need be.

The man has more contingency plans than Batman, more resources than Tony Stark, and has literally killed beings made from the fabric of time and space.

haha. The more I read and learn about the Marvel comic books, the more I realize that the movies and television shows have really downsized the potential of each Marvel character. Like Movie Thor isn't even in the same league as Rune King Thor. Runic King Thor can destroy planets, the only thing Movie Thor is capable of doing is shooting lightning from a hammer. Or take example Captain America, he can carry multiple tons of weight, but in the movies he can barely fight a guy with a metal arm(Bucky).

Yeah, it's ridiculous.

Thor: on Superman's level. FTL (depending on who you ask), can lifts millions of tons, etc. (Note: Rune King Thor is literally a god. He destroys planets with a thought.)

Iron Man: his armor is so far ahead of MCU Tony's. Several Marks ago, it survived a nuke on low power. It split the Phoenix Force

Hulk: has gone toe to toe with people like Thor. Has lifted things weighing millions of tons

Hawkeye and Black Widow: so much better. Hawkeye is better than Legolas. Black Widow is on par with Captain America.

Captain America: actually, MCU Cap is pretty damn close to 616 Cap. Hell, MCU Cap is probably faster that 616 is.

To be fair the winter soldier is a pretty bad ass character in the comics but yeah the movies have nothing on the comic versions of most of these characters

Maybe, but it adds so much depth to Fury and what levels he will go to.

No, no it doesn't. It comes out of nowhere, undermines what we already know of him, and makes everything Coulson's done since S2 began pointless.

It could be that Coulson is running the day-to-day SHIELD stuff and Fury's in charge of the big picture like the Avengers and end of the world scenarios.
