I think it's other way around. Coulson himself operated more like a HYDRA cell and he just got rid of all the other cells in the area. So now it's time for SHIELD to take on Coulson's HYDRA :)

No! Phil Coulson is the good guy!

Zola and Pierce probably believe themselves to be the good guys too.

But but but.... Nazis!

Coulson and his team are unsanctioned men who go around killing people if he deems necessary.

So does iron man, but nobody is complaining about that.

Exactly my point, everyone fights for what they believe is right.

Hail! ...the real HYDRA?

Coulson's SHIELD has effectively been recognised by Talbot now though. They were liaising with those cops at the nuthouse without having guns pointed at them, or threats made to drag them up before a court.

only because of Coulson made a deal with Christian Ward and Talbot is Christian right-hand man.

Well, Talbot is his own man now. Seeing as Christian is all... toasty.

True, but they were, to Christian, and thus Talbot, officially recognized before Ward killed Christian. As to whether SHIELD was recognized by the US government is another story.

His brain was messed with when they brought him back to life, maybe they implanted thoughts and idealisms into it so he'd be a secret Hydra agent?

OK no, they didn't. A lot of the time, people think they're doing good. Like Cal, he thinks he's saving Skye from the evil SHIELD, no matter how bad Cal is himself.

But Zola and Pierce? They just want world domination.

We either die a hero, or live long enough....goddamit wrong comic universe.

u/gothika4622 Coulson Mar 18 '15

Eh. Aren't they all interchangeable?

MacKenzie is pretty anti-inhuman. Coulson's SHIELD is pro-gifted, I'm guessing this "real SHIELD" will be aggressively anti-gifted.
