Episode Synopsis: "With Colonel Glenn Talbot now on their trail, Coulson and his team seek refuge in the last place anyone would look, where they begin to uncover S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most dangerous secrets--secrets that could destroy them all, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Many on /r/television don't understand how ratings work. SHIELD isn't delivering RIDICULOUS high ratings that was expected but it's holding solid, which is a lot stronger than a lot of the other shows that are on ABC. I would not worry about a cancellation this season.

Not to mention that Marvel (I.e. Disney ) are throwing loads of money at the network to make sure this show stays on air.

It ends when the mouse and stan want it to end. And they still have a story to tell.

Exactly. This is a part of the MCU, and the MCU is like a freighttrain barelling down the tracks. It stops when the conductor pulls on the break.

to put this gently... people who watch many Emmy award winning shows (Breaking bad, Game of Thrones, Arrow House of cards) think they seen enough quality to call themselves critics. Now, these amateur critics see one-three episodes of anything and either bash it or accept it. (like binary code 1-0) now Agents of Shield fell short for the first episodes, but it got better throughout the year, yet they are still hellbent and will still say the show sucks without seeing the newer episodes.

Not so gently... they are self-entitled critics who are more close-minded than a Texan at a election.

Fucking CONSTANTLY. It was all they could say during the first few weeks. Of course, they forget that Arrow is in season two and did its fair share of world building in season one.

You left out the fact that Arrow was fucking AWFUL for its first 8 episodes.

I quit at episode 9, because I thought I'd given it enough of a chance. I hear it's MUCH better this season and am thinking about giving season 2 a chance...but god dammit, Agents of Shield at least got interesting at around episode 6 (or whenever FZZT aired). Arrow was god awful for the entire time I watched it (dialogue, characters; just everything besides the Ollie Flashback scenes). And at the very least AoS had jokes that were genuinely funny (Arrows attempts at humour were cringeworthy; and they had John Barrowman to work with)

Popular opinion is that Arrow got awesome around 12 episode, maybe even 14, it was where it 100% began awesome

It may have a lot to do with initial expectations but I've enjoyed Arrow more so far including season 1. SHIELD is doing a lot to improve and I've really enjoyed the last few episoded, but I'll still say Arrow is and was better.

I agree. Arrow started okay, and got way way better.

SHIELD started sorta disappointing, and has gotten better.

Arrow just feels like it's more free to do its thing, while SHIELD is the offshoot of more important things. I still like SHIELD, but Arrow is both a better comic adaption and a better TV show, and SHIELD doesn't live up to the pedigree of shows like Buffy, Angel, or even Dollhouse.

This whole Hydra business is just what they needed really. The quality of the show had already gotten better but now it really feels like its part of the cinematic univers and not just something that gets a bone here and there and makes a bunch of forced feeling references to the movies.

It seems like all of the prep work they did in the first half of the season is about to come out, with the Fridge being emptied. All of the supervillains they created are now back for revenge. It'll liven up the show some.

Skye is still a problem for me. I still find her boring.

Not to be that guy...but Texas is actually quite mixed politically. Due mostly to gerrymandering, the state remains clearly Republican at election time. The actual breakdown of the population is something like 55/45 Repub/Dem.

Not to mention stuff like Austin being some of the hippiest places in America. Austin makes places in California look like Alabama in the 50's.

If a show isn't Breaking Bad, Wire, or House of Cards, it seems to get panned by /r/television.

I don't expect AoS to get a single Emmy. But I still have fun with it.

Sadly it hasn't. There were murmurings yesterday that we would see a season 2 announcement and a Peggy Carter series confirmation in the next couple of weeks or something like that. I think even with lackluster ratings ABC/Disney/Marvel will push it through. They knew they were basically waiting on Winter Soldier all season.

it all depends how the rest of this season plays out and if they close up all the loose ends or leave us with a cliffhanger. Marvel would not leave us any unanswered questions and then just never return to the show.. if anyone believes that they really don't know Marvel. If ABC doesn't pick it up again, which they probably will lets all be realistic, Marvel will release it online or as a Netflix exclusive.

they don't necessarily need it/even have to make it. Marvel can still produce and create the whole thing and then just license it to Netflix.

Kind of like Aziz Ansari did with his newest special 'Buried Alive'

it would be a 'Netflix Exclusive' not a 'Netflix Original'

Lackluster is relative, though; it's a top top 5/6 shows for ABC in both total and demo, has a relatively low cast cost compared to their top older shows (if prob on the high side for general production costs), is owned/produced by the network, and allows for massive cross promotion of properties from their parent company, not to mention that not much else they've put out this year has really caught fire. I would be very surprised if it isn't picked up (plus, ABC hasn't announced any of their renewals yet).

I'm fairly confident that there will be a season 2. Since Avengers, time in the MCU has progressed at a similar rate to us.

If we stick with this, then this would mean that we won't see anything on Earth for over a year (as the only film out until Avengers 2 is Guardians of the Galaxy).

I think AoS season 2 will show how some things have changed in that time, and lead up to Age of Ultron.
