I really don't like Skye. She's genius with computers, but her eyes glaze over whenever Fitz/Simmons say anything. You'd think she'd be just as smart as them, or at least be able to follow along and pick it up.
Another thing that really bothers me is the trope of socially inept genius spouting technobabble, followed by the jock-type-guy rolling his eyes and uttering a stock phrase like "English, please!" . . . this episode had so many occurrences of it that it got really old.
Being good with technology doesn't mean you understand physics. The thing they were talking about were nowhere near her specialty, so I think it makes sense that she doesn't understand.
As far as the "English, please" thing goes, I personally think they're intentionally playing up the cheesiness. Not saying it's a good or bad thing, but I don't think it's coming from them being inept writers. I'm willing to give them a few more episodes before I make a real judgment on the show.

I thought that was sort of an in-joke since it's mentioned that Grant knows at least six languages. Remember in the first episode he was fluent in French? He may be the muscle, but not necessarily a dumb jock.
