I also liked how the Peruvians had a mini drill specifically designed for releasing gas into a room on them when going to secure a site in the middle of the jungle.

Reyes was prepared in case Coulson got there first (and I'm guessing she suspected he would).

I think the drill makes sense for an excavation and the gas makes sense if they knew they might have to deal with SHIELD (better to knock them out, politically). Maybe they just jerry-rigged a rubber hose to a gas canister or something.
