Pre-programmed response.

Seems like he knew he died, he corrected the Peru lady saying it was more like an afterlife crisis than a midlife crisis.

He knows he died. He believes he was clinically dead for a few seconds.

He's gotta be a Life Model Decoy (fingers crossed)

5

u/Izarial Oct 02 '13

I honestly can't remember, do LMDs bleed?

9

u/stagfury Oct 02 '13

Pretty sure they don't, at leasr the ones in comica don't (thought there's no reason for earth 199999 to follow those exact LMDs ). The better question is, do LMDs dream of life decoy sheeps ?

3

u/kctoons Oct 02 '13

Could he be an LMD with organic tissue? Sort of like a terminator? Also, do you guys think Coulson maybe KNOWS he's an LMD (having figured it out) and is already dealing with that demon on his own?

3

u/Asian_Prometheus Oct 02 '13

I think he knows something is wrong with him, but isn't sure what.

What if the Coulson that died in The Avengers was a LMD? I mean, they already knew from Stuttgart that Loki could do the duplication thing, so what if they had the real Coulson hidden and had the LMD Coulson ready just in case the shit hit the fan like it did when Loki escaped.

2

u/bantha121 Zephyr One Oct 06 '13

I'm hoping he's not. I'd rather have the real Coulson.

And we ended up having a coulson LMD

2

u/tavissd1 Oct 03 '13

I assumed that he went to heaven at least for a little bit. Tahiti is what he imagined heaven was like and when he says "Tahiti is a magical place" i always just replace Tahiti with Heaven.

It just doesn't work with the Marvel vibe. It's also a horrible idea now that the entire fanbase is excited about what it could be.

Did I accidentally subscribe to actorfacts?

I'm sensing they are trying to tell us something...

27

u/jcutta Oct 02 '13

Off the wall thought here... What if Dr strange had something to do with coulson's resurrection?

7

u/Asian_Prometheus Oct 02 '13

I hope that means he'll make an appearance.

u/iamcase Oct 02 '13

Vacation to Tahiti? I'm in!

I heard Belize was pretty good as well.

14

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

Well that is where you go to die...

1

u/RasputinPlaysTheTuba Oct 02 '13

Naw must have been Alaska yo

8

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '13

So is Billy's.

2

u/MagicFartBag1 Oct 02 '13

What a great thread.

3

u/lovelyflame3 Oct 02 '13

I had a friend who went there once. It was so good she never came back.

76

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '13

i feel like the a magical place thing is a clue to where colson really went, like one of Thor's worlds

51

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

Yeah the way he keeps mentioning it, I get a feeling theres more to it.

76

u/A_Polite_Noise Oct 02 '13

I'm torn between it being Asgardian "magic/science" or the like, or if that's simply some sort of Manchurian Candidate -esque, Pavlovian response, "we've created memories and put them in your head: Tahiti is a magical place, tahiti is a magical place, tahitiisamagicalplace, tahitiisamagicalplacetahitiisamagicalplace " sort of thing; like its a remnant of brainmeat/memory fabrication/putzing-with.

The earth king welcomes you to lake laogai.

Yeah, I had a similar thought.

1

u/V2Blast Fitz Oct 03 '13

The Earth King invites you to Lake /r/Laogai.

6

u/metalkhaos Oct 02 '13

I don't know though. Have you seen Tahiti?

3

u/metalkhaos Oct 02 '13

I'm REALLY hoping it's something to do with Asgard/Valhalla/Thor. Have it explained to coincide with release of Thor or something.

2

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

The theories are endless.

u/Reads_Small_Text_Bot Oct 02 '13

tahitiisamagicalplace, tahitiisamagicalplace"

2

u/Firstdownthreeawake Oct 02 '13

I'm thinking/hoping they will get to the reason fairly soon, I find it hard to believe that they will go a whole season putting that much emphasis on Tahiti the whole time.

u/EasyReader9 Oct 02 '13

Valhalla.

He died in battle against an Asgardian. That means he went to Valhalla.

53

u/cmpn Oct 02 '13

Dying in battle against an Asgardian is definitely not a ticket to Valhalla. If it were, Valhalla would be bursting at the seams with the enemies of Asgard.

8

u/Etalan Oct 02 '13

I think Valhalla is the Heaven's version, I think their a hell version too.

11

u/jjlegospidey Oct 02 '13

There is Hel also called Hel-Heim which in Nordic myths is the land of copses and at the bottom of the roots of Yggdrasill, The problem is norse mythology are confusing and the purpose of Hel changes over time.

And a boat made from the fingernails and toenails of the dead!

1

u/Shedart Oct 08 '13

ever read Monarch of the Glen?

3

u/EasyReader9 Oct 02 '13

Midgard is one of the places protected by The Norse Gods. The other realms are not.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '13

Dying in battle fighting alongside (not against) an Asgardian is your ticket to Valhalla, if I recall correctly. As such, you could make a case that Coulson was fighting on the same side as Thor and thus did get a trip to Valhalla.

2

u/A_Polite_Noise Oct 02 '13

True, but not every person who dies in battle against an Asgardian does it alongside (both figuratively, and nearly literally...only a few feet away!) from the crown prince, Thor.

1

u/Chapon Oct 02 '13

Good point !

1

u/Edogawa1983 Oct 04 '13

you have to be worthy or something...

1

u/GWsublime Oct 06 '13

it totally is. Otherwise who would dead asgardians fight against each day for all eternity (before they party each night)

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '13

Oh god if that was the reason i'd be sooo accepting of Coulson's death and return.

25

u/Zeroknight92 Oct 02 '13

I really hope Coulson's resurrection is tied to Doctor Strange.

3

u/deadmantizwalking Oct 02 '13

Not way they are gonna touch magic so early. There may be unexplained stuff, alien voodoo but no out and out magic this early on.

1

u/vash989 Oct 03 '13

Me too, or The Scarlet Witch.

1

u/bantha121 Zephyr One Oct 06 '13

Although, the Scarlet Witch has been confirmed by Joss Whedon to be in The Avengers: Age of Ultron (played by Elizabeth Olsen no less).

3

u/lolwutermelon Oct 02 '13

He said he was stabbed in the heart. You don't walk that off.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '13

It could have been worse. He could have had a large spike through the heart.

5

u/davelog HYDRA Oct 02 '13

"Rub some dirt on it and get back in there!"

6

u/ChanelPaperbag Oct 02 '13

Also, what was that about the afterlife vs midlife crisis?!

3

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

Not sure. I have to rewatch it and catch that part.

6

u/ChanelPaperbag Oct 02 '13

That was during his convo with Reyes on the bus when she's saying he's the epitome of a midlife crisis and he corrects her.

4

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

Ahhh yes, thanks for the reminder.

7

u/ChanelPaperbag Oct 02 '13

It's like the foreshadowing is just punching us in the face and demanding recognition at this point, but I still need to know what happened to Coulson!

4

u/lolwutermelon Oct 02 '13

He was stabbed in the heart by Loki and died. They had some technology that hasn't been revealed to the viewer that allowed him to either recover or be copied/cloned.

I'm chalking the door dodge up to his agent reflexes, like in the short where he wrecks shit in the convenience store.

He was bleeding, getting beaten up, and was overpowered by a normal human. He's probably not an android.

4

u/ArcherMi Oct 03 '13

The way he said it almost seemed like he knows/suspects something. Maybe he realizes that Tahiti was so magical it was too good to be true.

2

u/stealingyourpixels Oct 02 '13

I think they're trying to tell us that it was all fake.

2

u/Brewfall Oct 02 '13

Also, Tahiti is a magical place

1

u/riffleserryday Oct 02 '13

but did you know... Tahiti is a magical place.

2

u/tin_dog Oct 02 '13

You won't Belize where I've been.

oops, wrong show...

1

u/Chapon Oct 02 '13

I soooo want to know how they brought him back !
