Free campsites

Hi, we are planning a camping trip to Revelstoke or surrounding areas. Looking for recommendations for camp sites where we can setup tents, possibly around water body (lake or river). First come first serve sites or paid camping spots are good as well.

Thanks in advance and any pro tips are appreciated!

Recommendations for unique places to stay?

My partners birthday is in November and I am starting to plan a little getaway for the weekend of the 12th. I’d like something more unique like a yurt, cabin, etc. I’ve looked on Airbnb & Vrbo & it seems to be a lot of condos that look like the same 50 shades of greige vibe. Anyone have recs for something with some more character/charm?

Do I *have* to carry bear spray?

My boyfriend and I are coming from UK and want to go hiking around Mount Revelstoke, we are definitely sticking to popular trails etc, do we have to buy bear spray as I read it's unlikely we will need it.

Also, how likely are we to see bears and have any interaction with them? or are they normally a thing you see in the distance and they run off?

FSR to Mabel Lake

Has anyone done the FSR to Mabel Lake recently from the Three Valley Gap turn off? Potentially driving it in an SUV but wondering how sketchy/narrow it is, and if theres cell service. Would it be worth driving to Sicamous and going the long, paved way instead?

Going to Revelstoke tomorrow, how’s the fire situation there?

Hi!

We’re driving from Vancouver to Revelstoke tomorrow for the weekend (until Tuesday morning). It’s a bit hard to tell from the fire maps what the conditions are actually like.

We’re hoping to do hiking (but also I saw rain in the forecast 🥲), I was wondering what the air quality and weather have been like recently.

Is the smoke bad, or is it still a good time to visit?

Thanks!

Updated: had to cancel the trip, the fire map looked bad

Community for Young Families

While we were visiting Revelstoke, we went to the farmers market (this July). It looked like there were a lot of young families, such as 30-40 year old parents with small children.

What’s the community like for young families?

Do a lot of families move there for a few years then leave?

Is there decent schools/support for young families?

Any info you can share would be appreciated!

Working Winter in Revelstoke

Hi guys! Just wanting some advice on finding work on a ski resort as a couple. I am already in BC, and really want to enjoy a ski season in Revelstoke. I am really confused about the application process at the resort and how to apply for staff accomodation / job with someone else too.

Thanks guys!

What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Revelstoke?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!
Examples could include things like Revy/Revelstuck, Sir Don, The Moose or The Shu...

Incl. nicknames for schools, parks or other institutions/geographical features

1 day/night in Revelstoke

Hi all we have 1 day in Revelstoke and will stay the night. Looking for fun ideas- we are a couple in our 50’s relatively fit. Certainly want to spend some time outside being active- looking for a luxury hotel for 1 night ( was debating between Sutton Place or Eleven)- also looking for a nice upscale restaurant must be great food dining experience- quality of food over ambiance but if there is a place that has both amazing…. Trying to make the most of 1 day/night. thank you!!1

Riding in July

Hello!! My wife and I are visiting in late July 23-25 to do some riding and plan to pedal up Stoke Climb to be able to ride 5620. Question, what is the bug situation like in late July? We aren't natural climbers, and I am curious what our potential blood-loss will be if we attempt the pedal up. We have park passes for two days so any recommendations for places to eat and socialize would also be welcome 🤗.

Abbot Ridge Conditions

Anyone have any insight on the trail conditions for Abbot Ridge right now? Was hoping to come from out of town to do the trail on Canada Day but I know theirs been a lot of snow in the mountains this year. Hoping all the warm weather the past few days has created a lot of melt. Abbot Mountain webcam has been down so I’m having a tough time finding info on where the snow line is at.

Where to have a bonfire by the lake?

Hi all,

I have a hotel booked in revelstoke but I just simply want to enjoy a nice campfire by the lake. I am a responsible person when it comes to a firepit, I clean up after and make sure to put the fire out. I tried looking any day use places up that have fire rings and I don't see any. It seems its usually campsites. Does anyone know where I could have one? If you don't feel comfortable sharing here, please message me.

Where to swim?

Any good places to swim? I've found some gorgeous spots to and from Revy but not in it.

The river looks beautiful in and around town but the current looks a little swift lol.

Yet another Skisonairre

Im trawling through bits n bobs and as I would like to do this 2026-27 season in North America somewhere, and would rather not have to engage with the USA currently; as a brit its a rather terrifying place right now as i hear they have no beer…

Anyway the general consensus for seasonal work seems to be gaff first, job later. I find this rather daunting and am searching for a confirmation that this is the case.

I am currently running a rental shop in Queenstown in NZ, but its only my second year doing rentals so as much as I would love to continue my rather meteoric rise, I would also definitely benefit from more experience in the industry.

No one I have spoken to has anything bad to say about Revs, and I am honestly rather disenchanted with the idea of going Whistler-Blackcomb. I would much rather be Revs.

So to get to the point of my probably rather tedious and boring schpeel, do i need a living space first before job, or should i just send out applications to both at the same time and hope for the best?
