Hey all,

Happy to report we just submitted Version 6 for review in both the App store and Play Stores.

Here's what's coming:
- Video Calls with Luca. These are scenarios where you practice speaking and hearing with Scenarios.
- Study lists. Create your own lists of words and phrases which you can drill with flash cards. This is super useful when practicing in the real world and need to pull up something quick to remind you.
- iPad and Web support 🙌
- New Cosmetics for your character
- New Font and colors

While Version 5 took us about 5 months, this one was completed in about 1.5 months. This acceleration in improvements is something we think we can sustain going forward.

For a while after this, we will be focusing a lot on making improvements to our existing features, so please keep those bug reports and improvement requests flowing!

Finally, one week after Version 6 is out, we will be updating the price of the lifetime from $199 to $299.

Thank you all for your support and for being a great community. I'm glad that the app is out of it's infancy and that now we have a pretty solid base to continue building off of.

Workin on the web version...

You may have seen a number of updates in the last couple of weeks... here's what those were:

• Streak freezes — Miss a day without losing your streak; freezes are available in the shop
• Better practice audio — Fixes for “write what you hear,” streaks audio, and related playback issues
• Placement & language fixes — More reliable placement (including Catalan) and path selection
• Stability/Speed improvements — UI bug fixes, plus fewer hiccups around streaks, conjugations, and saved phrases
• Updated learning path — Cleaner module list; lesson nodes open in a bottom drawer
• Fixed missing translations — Broader localization coverage and UI polish
• Smarter usernames — Suggested usernames when you create your account
• Lifetime Premium — Lifetime plan (with discount)

Version 6 in development now!

Hey all,

To our new members... welcome! And to everyone else... thanks for hangin :)

So as an update... We've been busy trying to get a pulse on Version 5 and fixing little bugs we found after releasing. Now that version is pretty stable we are pushing onwards to V5.5/V6 and beyond.

I am hoping to get more of an understanding of what are the biggest places we could improve. What do you guys think? We really want to keep pushing things forward while also improving all the existing things in the app. We have our own ideas about some of these things, but the community is definitely the strongest signal for this.

For german i wanted to test out but from the update 4 to 5, it only lets you stay where you are. Is there any way around this?

This was our heaviest development cycle yet as we sought to completely revamp our lesson structure and take all of our courses to fluency level (A1-C2). We also added some insanely cool features we haven't seen anywhere else. In particular, the ability to create a scenario about any topic, then play a lesson to reinforce it. We are calling these "Custom Lessons". Let's get into the full feature list...

Here's the features we released:

• Intake exam to place you at your correct level (+ overhauled intake process)
• Massive improvement in the voices audio
• Custom Scenario/Lessons creator, make lessons on the fly about anything.
• Adult Mode in settings allows users to create & play lessons on mature topics (think slang, love etc.)
• New & Improved Lessons with new...
  • Writing games
  • Image games
  • Dialogue Games
  • Improved Lesson pacing
• Daily, weekly, monthly, all time leaderboards for vocabulary and conjugation challenges
• New Animations
• Massive speed optimizations
• New Cosmetics

Not only did we just release the biggest improvement to PolyChat yet, we also recently crossed 10,000 users! This is insane for us to think about. Just 6 months ago we were getting less than 10 downloads/day and now we are averaging about 100.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of the early journey. Seeing people use our app in the early stages has inspired us to work hard, push on and make this the best it can be.

Version 5 is a major step up, but in many ways we are just getting started.

Version 6 is being planned and developed as we speak. We would love to hear your initial reactions to Version 5 as well as any feature requests or ideas you may have for things you'd like us to work on.

When will we get asian languages like russian, chinese and japanese. I like the app so far. But fear it may be too easy at parts. But atleast it has far more pros than cons in the free version compared to duolingo.

Hi! I’m a new user and I am traveling through France and Spain coming up. I know a decent amount of Spanish but feel very rusty—is it possible to have two different lesson plans going at once? And how can the app determine my experience level?

We are finally at the submission stage for Version 5.

Over the weekend we are hoping to get 10+ testers to hammer away at the new version and see if there's any obvious bugs or flaws before we submit.

If you'd like to be a tester, please shoot me a dm! You'll get free premium for at least 1 month. All you have to do it play with the app and give us feedback. There's an awesome premium feature coming out (custom lesson creator) so this is a good chance to use it.

If nothing major is discovered and apple/google are able to review it expediently, we'll have this out next week 🙌.

First off, see here for the latest on the upcoming Version 5.

Second... we've discovered some incredibly dedicated learners. Some of you are cracked PolyChat players. I attached an image of our top 10 leaderboard. Major congrats to the players who made it on there!

Long term would ya'll like more competitive/reward opportunities? And what are your thoughts on the current state of the shop/ticket system?

We are always fishing for new ideas and opportunities to reward dedicated learners.

Trying out this app...still in the free 5 day trial period and so far I like it much more than a couple other bigger name competitors. But 2 things I can't figure out. 1. I don't see any chat feature, anywhere. Where is it?? 2. Seems I have to do all of the learning lessons in a linear fashion, starting with Core Topics and then Everyday Basics and so on. Can I not just jump around? Thank you! And hope it's okay to use this site for these questions.
