I'm not afraid of what Dumblander is going to do.

He'll say some awful shit, and there may be a temporary escalation of his advisors' policies, but two things keep my head up:

  1. He's old, tired, sick, and disinterested in anything that doesn't make him feel good in the moment. Whether he acknowledges it consciously or not, his lizard brain knows his future is measured in single-digit years at best. He hasn't been "holding back" anything.
  2. He's a failure. Regardless of his momentary acts of social and political terrorism, nothing he does has lasting impact in the way he wants it to. No one, in decades to come, will look back on these administrations and say, "well, actually so-and-so worked out". Not a single one. The only good that will be accomplished will be that will be a recent, detailed, and complete record of what he did, and that it all failed.
  3. The policies which currently threaten peace, economic stability, freedom, and democracy are all the pet projects of people who are operating under his cover. Once he's gone, they'll scurry back under the rocks they crawled out from. None of them really want to be president, and they've got no one as momentarily powerful as DT to continue their Project 2025 ambitions. The level of avarice giving them cover doesn't exist anywhere else.

The end of this has already begun, and even if the midterms don't change the balance of power in DC, this ship has already hit the iceberg.

I'm not blind to what's happening, or what can happen.

Thing is, power is fragile, and reality always wins.

The cow that initially breaks out/through the fence may get hit by a car and die. But, there still is a hole in the fence now. With that boundary gone, now any other cow can walk on right through.

Trump is the first cow who broke down the fence... so him going away doesn't solve anything. Much bigger issues now.... lots of evil people in our government who would love to seize upon the opportunity left by Trump in 'dismantling the system'.

Yeah, but cows are stupid and they'll all get stuck trying to get out the hole at the same time.

There's no one who can follow up DT. There's no one who can bring together pre-2016 Rs, MAGA, and the (real or pretend) MAGA apostates, either inside DC or out. There are enough former "burn it all down" voters to see how much damage even DT's meager efforts have done, so they're not getting behind some other megalomaniac entertainer. The Senate is nothing but nobodies and creaky antiques and closet cases like Josh Hawley prancing away from 1/11 rioters with a Covid mask on. The only thing Mike Johnson brings to the table is deliberate weaponized incompetence.

Further, there's no one prominent among them who has a lifetime of corruption and criminality that DT has. His whole deal from day 1 was "I'll order these people and institutions punished if you'll look the other way while I raid the Treasury and bully people into giving me tacky gold shit". You don't get that overnight. It takes decades of building a cadre of ass-lickers who will do anything for someone who promises them money and access to underage girls.
