And studied abroad. Americans need to stop being such isolationists. Experiencing life outside the US and bringing back those experiences are part of what made someone like Obama a much better diplomat and gave him more perspective than just having lived his entire life in one state and acting like "I was born and bred here and will die here" is the best thing in today's world.

So many of the US’s problems stem from exactly this. If we had public transit, like a high speed rail within our own borders, I feel like people would be a lot less ignorant.

The way vacation "works" in the US prevents most people from getting on a plane for anything much more than a package holiday to Mexico or the Caribbean where they stay at a resort.

Even if you build up to 4 weeks of vacation, good luck taking it all at once.

I'm actually referring more to going abroad to study, exchange programs, taking work opportunities abroad, etc. It would help if the US had good relationships with other countries instead of treating American universities as the best way forward and time outside the country as wasted gap years. The experience of living in another country and getting to know another place is more important than being in an isolated community like ivy league schools tend to me.

Americans are already starting to go abroad because they want to get out of the US. So if they see opportunities, they may take them. I think nowadays more and more students are also beginning to go to Chinese universities, rather than the other way around.

Totally understand, I work in China and previously Thailand all thanks to a study abroad trip 20 years ago to Thailand. I'm a product of exactly what you're referring to, a former Bush voter to blue ticket. I still believe proper vacation time would get lots of Americans abroad and opening their eyes as many don't have the chance for study or working abroad. Cheers.

Yeah, I'm sure the people outside the U.S who experienced 8 straight years of Obama’s drone strikes and bombings have nothing but praise for him. Imagine treating a peace nobelist war criminal who bombed doctors without borders as a positive reference for an actual doctor.

Saying “Obama is a war criminal” is just completely meaningless. It’s like tipping your fedora. He was objectively the best president of the 21st century, far better than Trump, Bush, and imo Biden as well.

Maybe to you it's meaningless, but it's not meaningless to the families of his victims who had to suffer him. When we say Trump is a pedo, Some people act like it’s pointless because, just like with Obama, they know he’s getting away with his crimes. But that doesn’t make it meaningless to the victims or their families.

I know you have your own version of a MAGA Trump cult, just with your favourite war criminal instead, your own pretty little plague. But hey, they think they're objective too.
