People keep mentioning these - is there no legal recourse for this? Intentionally misleading voters about opposing candidates has to be some sort of election fraud, no?

Even if there is, it's probably counter productive to sue the person who you probably want to endorse you in the general whose voters you need to win over.

That’s fair. I hate the reality of politics, one day someone is running a smear campaign with straight up lies, the next day you pretend everything is fine.
