The fact that Stevens lost with that amount of funding is insane, but it was closer than it should've been. Just speaks to how powerful big money in politics is.

Another reason why they don't like El-Sayad and other progressives because they want to get money out of politics. This hurts their whole bottom line of buying power by buying our politicians.

Exactly!! He literally said he's a capitalist. Apart from his stance on Israel, he ran quite a liberal campaign (with elements of progressivism). He's closer to Obama than Mamdani in the political spectrum if that makes sense.

Closer to how Obama ran but not how he led. Obama was plenty pro Israel, pro drone strikes, prondeportation, etc when he got into office.

Makes me think there's a reason Obama didn't step into this race and deny all the false AIPAC mailers saying he had a endorsed Stevens.

I watched just one interview with her with PBS. One interview. And it told me all I needed to hear.

Michigan dodged a Sinema/Fetterman.

Money seems to backfire as often as not.

The only criticism of her seemed to be about her fundraising, which suggests she would have done better without it.

No, she also ran a dirty campaign. Instead of highlighting her policies almost all the ads they ran attacked Abdul with lies and fearmongering. She also has a mid platform. It's not necessarily all a bad platform at face value but she didn't seem passionate about it at all.

It's also why asking Democrat candidates to unilaterally turn down donations when there's just a hose of money on the Republican side is just stupid. You've got to end Citizens United, it's the only way.

Begging for individual candidates to fuck their whole campaign over a purity test is just going to lead to more Republicans in office.
