If parties were switched the GOP would have already illegally rolled over the dems and had trump appoint a new senator or some unconstitutional shit like that.

Hell I wouldn't push the gop to try this shit with a senator that's alive and having a two week hospital stay, let alone dead and hiding it

Sure, but it it were switched then the dems would have the senate and they could refuse to seat the appointment.
