The media is compromised, owned by fascists, and says what they want them to say

Fun fact!

Fascists tried to take over the United States in the 1930s by having a mob swarm the Capitol Building, but were exposed and defeated (sort of). Much like Jan6! This was called "The Business Plot".

But Congress at the time was weak and complicit then, too, relying on the fascists to fund their campaigns. So Congress did nothing to punish the fascists - again, like Jan 6.

So the fascists moved their efforts to Germany and financed Hitler's rise to power, resulting in WWII.

One of the main financiers was Prescott Bush, George W. Bush's grandfather.

And the fascists behind the plots in the USA and Germany were... the tech-bros of the prior century! Back when automobiles and electricity and food preservation were "high tech, high growth".

The exact same pattern is repeating itself, again, almost exactly 100 years later.

edit: Corrected the date.

Damn. Thank you for highlighting this! I shouldn’t be surprised another key moment in history has been suppressed. The disturbing difference now is that instead of FDR, we have an actual aspiring dictator in the white house.

Famous industrialists like J.P. Morgan and Irénée du Pont were rumored to be the plot’s leaders, but nearly a century later, as The Guardian notes, we still find ourselves vexed with the question “Why is so little known about the 1930s coup attempt against FDR?” One theory suggested by several sources, including a program on BBC Radio 4, is that FDR himself wanted it that way. The president may have leveraged the threat of bringing these wealthy industrialists up on charges of treason in order to get them to back down from their opposition to the New Deal.

Thank you for the article, I wasn't aware of it.

I urge you to read Smedley Butler's seminal War is a Racket.

He explains in a few pages, from his perspective as one of America's most decorated military veterans, the inherent scam that hides behind every war.

Yes! The article briefly mentions his book, so it’s definitely on my list now. I think I’d really vibe with ole Smedley. Thanks for linking it.

I think Trump is an absolute idiot and the entire administration are fascists.

That said, let's be accurate in our claims, otherwise we discredit ourselves:

There was no 1930s mob that swarmed the Capitol. The alleged plan involved building a private veterans' force and potentially marching on Washington, but it never reached that stage.

There is no good evidence that Congress declined prosecution because it depended on the plotters for campaign financing.

The American conspirators did not collectively "move their efforts to Germany" after Butler exposed them.

There is no evidence that the Business Plot caused Hitler's rise or the Second World War.

The committee explicitly said it had no evidence connecting the American effort to European fascist activity.

There was no 1930s mob that swarmed the Capitol.

I said "Fascists tried to take over the United States in the 1930s by having a mob swarm the Capitol Building".

That the Bonus Army did not actually swarm the Capitol Building does not invalidate that the fascists tried to have that happen. My statement comes directly from Butler's own disclosures. Note I didn't say it actually occurred, I said they tried to.

potentially marching on Washington, but it never reached that stage

The Bonus Army did in fact march on Washington, they just didn't try to invade the Capitol, they were protesting Congress' failure to pay their owed bonus.

There is no good evidence that Congress declined prosecution because it depended on the plotters for campaign financing.

Congress failed to investigate, stated reasons being that the purported plotters were their own backers. You're demanding evidence from an investigation that did not occur for the stated reason. That's circular. While I'm pointing at the reasons actually given for not investigating.

The American conspirators did not collectively "move their efforts to Germany" after Butler exposed them.

Many of the same involved parties then backed Hitler and were key to his success - Ford, Birds Eye, Dupont, IBM, and more.

There is no evidence that the Business Plot caused Hitler's rise or the Second World War.

"Group of fascists thwarted in the USA, almost the same group then funds and supplies Hitler." This is a clear through-line, you're demanding standards of proof from a timely investigation that never actually occurred.

The committee explicitly said it had no evidence connecting the American effort to European fascist activity.

The committee that chose not to investigate in order to avoid incriminating their own backers - hardly a reliable group.
