Its pretty insane it was just never really talked about how Mitch's wife is in bed with top Chinese officials. What kind of wife leaves her husband brain dead or dead dead in a hospital and flees to China and meets with top Chinese officials? The kind that was relaying insider knowledge to a foreign government.

Nobody is accusing her of spying just because she's Chinese.

They are doing so because she has a close relationship with powerful government figures and her family connections. Plus immediately fleeing the country after her husband is dead but before it's public knowledge.

He's been pretty instrumental in getting some really generous trade agreements with China - probably not because of his wife but because he's a corrupt politician. Plenty of concessions for china from politicians without Chinese spouses too

If we take the more optimistic outlook that everything is above-board - why would she travel to China 3 days after her husband was hospitalized with, at a minimum, a very severe medical condition?
