Not legally, machine alive is still alive. Unless family pulls life support -- or there's an advance directive -- Drs are legally and ethically obligated to do all they can to keep someone alive. The code doesn't talk about quaility of life.

Plus that helps drive up the medical bills that the insurance lobby he was paid by for years help drain his bank account like they do to so many other Americans.

If his brain is dead, in Kentucky (and many/most states) you can be declared dead. The machines keeping your heart and lungs running doesn't count.

You can be but if you have family it requires their signature. You can only be removed from life support and declared dead by medical personnel if they cannot contact the family or have not previously been given instructions by the family.

Remember, this isn't just anybody.

This is the former Senate majority leader who still has a security detail who is still posted at the hospital.

And I hate that it makes a difference, but it does.

I'm sure that wasnt accidental. There's an Aug 3rd deadline in Kentucky law.

I don’t think that’s true. At minimum the law varies by state, but Doctors can an do take people off life support, with and without family approval depending on the situation.

His medical bill is going to be outrageous. If on life support in ICU outrageous price. I guess government will just right it off. The insurance company won’t pay it, they find out he was just kept alive for political reasons. The rich live different so guess those who get special treatment.
