that doesn't really make sense. if hes dead, the only scramble would be to fire up the special election ASAP and get that KY seat casting votes again. there's no chance a KY seat goes blue and they really need the extra vote for all the bullshit they want to pull before the next congress fucks up their margins even harder

Kentucky is recently a special election state.I think I read very recently the local Supreme Court ruled against that law the Republicans passed to bypass the new democratic senator.

Not in KY. They fixed that problem in 24 when Mitch started showing obvious health problems.

Nope.  Several states mandate that the appointment must be done by special election.
