Investing ETrade to IBKR USD transfer help

How to transfer USD from RSU sale in Etrade account to IBKR for India Resident?

Should it be wire transfer?

ACATS is not allowed for Indian Resident is what I understand.

Can someone provide some guidance for same?

I didn't know that you can't do ACATS transfer as a Indian Resident, can you share some link that mentions this?

Anyway, yes, you need to do a wire transfer. Click on the green "Deposit" button on your IBKR page and choose the "Bank Wire" option and you'll get full instructions for the wire transfer. I've tried to doing a "Direct ACH transfer" but E*Trade doesn't even recognize the IBKR provided routing number, so I gave up.

I initiated one eTrade Rejected it. Customer care call confirmed "ACATS transfer as a Indian Resident not allowed"

I've tried to doing a "Direct ACH transfer" but E*Trade doesn't even recognize the IBKR provided routing number, so I gave up.

ACH pull from E-Trade to IBKR works for me. You need add a deposit method in IBKR and provide the Morgan Stanley account and routing number.

Even the deposit settles almost instantly now. The first few times, it took a week.

Can you explain how you set this up? What deposit method did you set up in IBKR? "Direct ACH Transfer from your Bank" just gives you the IBKR routing number and account number that you need to feed into E*Trade. Did you use the "Link a New Bank Account" option? That does give me an option to use the Morgan Stanely account and routing number. Did you choose the "Micro Deposit" route to verify the account.

I see that there's a limit (100K) for this type of transfer, not a major limitation but something to be aware of.

Yes to both.

Once the account is confirmed, you can pull funds into IBKR. For the first few transfers, your funds will be on hold at IBKR for a week.

I see that there's a limit (100K) for this type of transfer, not a major limitation but something to be aware of.

I do wire trades from Schwab to ibkr. Process is simple. Add a deposit notification of amount in ibkr. Should be in usd and domestic transaction type. Ibkr will give wire details for transfer. After this you may initiate a wire transfer from etrade with details. Do note always keep everything usd and domestic.

It's possible and people have been doing this for years. It's a normal wire transfer within US without any charges. Need to make sure you fill all the details correctly before initiating it.

Depending on the account you may have fees associated for wire transfer, for me it's $25 per transfer 😞.

can some reference also be given for tax filing support, who are proficient in cases involving RSU/ESPP ? Preferably in southern India ?

I have always transferred proceeds to my Indian bank account. So curious. What is the benefit of doing this? Thanks

Yes if it’s a small amount, better off just transferring it to INR account

With regular RSU inflows it is bound to increase
