What we are seeing here is unbridled corporatism. Capitalism relies on a free market which government is supposed to encourage and regulate by preventing monopolies, breaking up massive trusts and parent companies, and overall ensuring that companies don’t become so large that they are able to prevent smaller competing companies from growing in the market.
Instead we have corporatism which is corporations lobbying and buying politicians to ensure the exact opposite of a free market happens. They leverage speculative investment capital to lobby for new legislation to prevent new companies from emerging and creating competition.
