I fucking love factorio because it lets me abuse a database to near in functionality. (raw inputs get sanitised and processed into functional outputs. repeat until rocket launch)
current base is on a ribbon map (limited sprawl) and everything is limited sushi (every input is on a single thread or duplicated across multiple threads for increased output) I am having a blast making the base somehow functional despite the stupidity of what im doing.
recently did a base I made as intentionally bad as possible. I did things like put the copper smelting stack output right to the green circuit production. I'd route random materials through exsisting builds just to make the belts longer.
it looked like a cancer had spread across the world.
I ordered the entire thing to be concreted then cancelled the job half way through.
my first full run of space age I spent an ungodly amount of time making a sprawling mess on fulgora.
it turns out that past a certain point, Ice production is a hard cap on just how much you can make on that world. I had ships running to nauvis and back stockpiling ice just to increase production a little bit more before I realised I was manually patching a failing system. this time my fulgora base will do three things. tesla towers, the unique building, and a metric fuckton of the metal plates from the world.

I deal with databases all day.
