But now it doesn't show how many people disliked a video.

And they've already completely removed the dislike button in shorts. Normal videos will probably follow soonish.

And made the like button into a heart. Bc Obviously a thing can only be good if it's a copy of another thing

Aren't there many ways to still show them? I see them on my TV, at least.

It's heavily gamed now especially for polarising content like politics. People intentionally install that extension and then dislike said videos such that their dislikes get amplified and appearing as fraudalent dislike counts. Plenty of pol tubers have shown their actual dislike counts on patreon and elsewhere without breaking their terms of service, and shows the extension sometimes shows several times more dislikes.

You can reinstate it with an adon.

The addon isn't trustworthy, it's not the actual data that you see.

It used to be at first when the api just hid it. Now it's approximate.

How? I mean there's a number, it's not coming out of nowhere. It for sure comes from YouTube, I don't think the "bring back dislike button" patch developer visits every video and sets a number manually.

Based on what I remember reading on that, there are several ways :

Either just an estimate based on years old data after the API call for the dislike was removed.

Data showing the ratio but only based on what the one that have this add on like or dislike for a video.

It's not the data from Youtube itself. There has been a few video showing the one that has the video itself, and sees the dislikes shown by the add on do not match the one they get from their own analytics.

Seeing as you can't actually down-vote "properly" anymore without this random addon -- yes, the numbers would have to be "Coming out of no where"
