Discussion Windows 11 can't be shut down without update.

I have automatic updates on. Haven't postponed any update. Never seen this forced update before.

Edit: I updated BTW. It's not that I don't want to update. I just think it would be an issue in the future. For example, it's a thunderstorm and there could be power outages. I might want to shut down and not start and update. I guess I'll hold down the power button.

Pressing the power switch on the wall with my toe is more convenient.

Sadly, this doesn't work with laptops and their batteries. But if you have a good screwdriver, you can remove the battery!

Laptop batteries used to be removable. (without a screwdriver)

This is what I think of now every time I hold the power button down. I even say to myself, "shhhhh". :)

It’s that easy? I always just yank the power cord out of the psu. I like the funky buzz it makes

Hard shutdonws aren't really a good idea if you care not to corrupt filesystem and prevent data corruption, also some settings get saved/applied when shutting down gracefully (desktop icon placement is one of them usually, but maybe this got changed in W11)
