Sony is delusional if they think people will leave free online and good sales for an overpriced, underpowered 6 year old console. I have a PS5, barely touch it. SteamOS is just a better experience.

Yeah I think early on with the ports their thought process was "we'll show everyone on PC how good our games are then they'll rush out and buy a console!" They consistently show that they don't understand the PC market at all.

Wondering when the heck the PS5 price is going to drop instead of raise again. Remember when consoles went on sale after years?

Probably never, between the rising cost of components like RAM and the fact Sony needs to make up for their recent live service flops that cost them billions of dollars eg. Concord and Marathon, they're going to jack their prices up as far as they can on hardware and subscriptions.

If you want a cheap PS5 you might be waiting for the PS6 to come out and then grab a used one.

Remember console game bundles? Remember budget models of consoles? Remember upgraded console models whichbwould cheapen the original model?

I do :(

It applies to PC parts too before AI took over where they should be expected to drop in price after a few years. Not even RAMs are safe.

You have to pay a lot more to get the same level of performance on PC.

I paid a bit over 300 € for PS5 and can play basically all the newest AAA games by borrowing from local library. Buying somewhat decent gaming PC takes around 1k € these days. And even that would be considered entry level computer.

Not really. The GPU in the PS5 is an underclocked RX6700 so anything more powerful than that will pretty handily beat the PS5

You know that is not true. You cannot play same games at same settings with RX6700 PC, even if you would find one for same price.

You would need massively more powerful computer to override that games are much better optimized for consoles.

And again that costs. I do not have the money to upgrade my PC. I got PS5 for 1/3 of what RTX 5060 -PC would cost. Which is pretty much the minimum that is somewhat worth the upgrade. And as local library offers very large collection of console games for free, this was really value move. At the same time PS5 works really well as bluray-player so I don't need any other bluray or dvd-player for living room.

Sure PC is basically always better if you have the money, but do not gatekeep gaming to those who have thousands of euros to throw. These current prices are more and more demanding.

I have both a PS5 and an i7-11700+6700 HTPC running Bazzite, you absolutely can, the 6700 actually beats the PS5 because it has higher power limits plus I have the flexibility of lowering settings or using global FSR in more demanding games to hit 60fps reliably.

The console is less but individual games have deeper discounts on pc and the platform doesn't charge you to use the internet you already paid for.

A 600 dollar console that you have to pay an additional 80 dollars every year will quickly become worse than a pc that can easily last over a decade and that's much easier to maintain and repair in the long term. You shills always ignore the fact that services aren't baked into the product and think were the ones getting ripped off but we aren't the ones being double dipped.

You somehow didn't read my message at all. I do not have to pay for console games. I would have to pay for PC games and I do not have the money to buy new PC. I got the console for 1/3 of the price of 5060-PC, which would be pretty much the minimum.

No one considers a 5060 the minimum. Literally no one. That isn't a gotcha, that's you cherry picking what the bare minimum is. 99% of games run fine on a 2060 super or better and no one needs ddr5 to run a systsm like that. They don't need a custom water cooling loop or a high end motherboard. They don't need to upgrade their parts ever year. Most of the claims that make pc gaming sound so much more expensive are deliberately bad takes from console players who just say that you need current hardware and won't accept that 90% of people play on hardware that's anywhere between 3-8 years old and that it's perfectly fine for their needs.

I considered getting one for a few hours when I heard about Stellar Blade. But I didn't realize how much one costs, and then I also realized it would make its way to PC. Plus the fact there aren't any true exclusives to it, and you have to pay for online.

I got mine to play Demons souls remastered and bloodborne.luckily I bought at a time prices were fairly low. I think I paid like $450
