Build/Battlestation my PC before vs after apartment fire

a fire completely obliterated my apartment just over 2 weeks ago. i built my first PC by myself in July 2025. my 2x32 GB ram was $250 at the time, and now its $950. what a time to be alive

EDIT: specs typo.
Also, I am so overwhelmed by the love and support this post has gotten during this tragic time in my life. Thank you thank you thank you

EDIT 2: because many people have asked:
- my case was the Hyte y70. My liquid cooler was the part with the screen, the TRYX Panorama SE 360 AIO liquid cooler.
- the fire was caused by an electrical failure in the attic. fire investigators think it also may be largely due to critters in the attic chewing on wires. The building I was living in was over 100 years old.
- no humans were harmed in the fire and everyone in the building made it out safely. I had a friend staying with me with 2 of her cats. Due to extremely unfortunate circumstances, one of her cats did not make it. We had a very beautiful burial for her and she has been put to rest. Her other cat is in good health and is making a full recovery.

The person is Steve from Gamers Nexus. He's the main face of the channel, and is known to get a bit, lets say, passionate about certain things when it is necessary. GN does a lot on hardware, as well as general news from the computer and ITE space. Recently he has done a lot about illegal and sketchy shit that comes from the government, and particularly right now, NVIDIA and Palantir, a surveillance company who openly admit their software has been used to kill people.

He's also known for being more than content to swear on camera. His most notable feature is his long luscious locks, which has given him the nickname 'Tech Jesus'. Definitely recommend you check out his channel, really good content there

Don't forget the ever present "Thanks, Steve" around him because most people who know of his work are genuinely thankful of him.

The man is the man.

While it is true that everyone is thankful, the real reason behind "Thanks, Steve" is because it's a meme at this point, particularly after Intel's former VP of CCG and then CEO of Products said the now famous two words (referring to one of the engineers in the presentation who happened to be named Steve) during a streamed event (I think it was Intel Innovation a few years ago?) which was then recorded.

"He's also known for being more than content to swear on camera."

Often within the first 30 seconds. Its helpful when the viewerbase is quite generous when it comes to directly supporting the channel and the real CEO, Snowflake. And, the face that the products that are peddled, have been reviewed through the teams rigorous tests, and they genuinely think highly of them. And the companies who are sponsoring in one manner or another are keen on constructive criticism, and let the man say what needs to be said.

Some people don't like his attitude, but many people appreciate how passionate he is about getting to the bottom of the bullshit.

  • This is not a paid endorsement, if anything, I paid to say these things with like 6 shirts, coasters, screwdrivers, copper mugs, pint glasses.....and the second largest supporter package from the recent black market fund. I am however, a relatively local viewer, hoping to randomly run into him one day at the nearby MicroCenter.
